About the role
As Nscale expands across Asia-Pacific, we are hiring a Director, Legal (Commercial) based in Singapore to lead the negotiation of our customer and infrastructure contracts in the region. You will partner with Sales, AI Infrastructure, Product teams and Finance to close complex AI infrastructure and cloud deals with AI labs, enterprises, telecom partners and other customers, and help shape Nscale's commercial legal framework for APAC. This role suits a commercially minded technology lawyer who enjoys being close to the deal and can work across multiple jurisdictions and time zones.

What you'll be doing

Customer contracting

• Lead drafting and negotiation of agreements for Nscale's AI cloud and infrastructure services, including master services agreements, capacity reservation and take-or-pay commitments, order forms, service level agreements, acceptable use policies, and data processing agreements.
• Negotiate key terms such as capacity commitments and delivery timelines, pricing and prepayment, service credits, security and data protection, IP, indemnities, limitations of liability and termination rights.
• Structure and negotiate partner, reseller, marketplace and co-sell arrangements with telecom operators, systems integrators and technology partners in the region.

Regional advisory

• Advise on APAC legal and regulatory matters affecting cloud and AI services.
• Work with Compliance on export controls, sanctions and anti-corruption considerations for regional customers and partners.
• Coordinate with outside counsel across APAC jurisdictions and manage external spend.

Team and process

• Serve as a trusted advisor to regional commercial leadership, providing clear, risk-calibrated guidance at deal speed.
• Collaborate with US and UK commercial counsel to keep templates and positions globally consistent, and adapt them for regional requirements.
• Build playbooks and training for Sales and Deal Desk, and contribute to deal governance and approval processes.

About You

• Qualified to practice law in Singapore or another common-law jurisdiction (e.g., England & Wales, Australia, US state bar).
• 8–12 years of post-qualification experience in-house, with significant experience negotiating customer and infrastructure contracts for cloud, SaaS, data center, telecom or technology infrastructure services.
• Experience negotiating complex, high-value deals with enterprise, hyperscale and public sector customers across the APAC region.
• Strong understanding of data protection, cybersecurity and technology regulation and industry best practices in key APAC markets.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills; comfortable engaging directly with counterparties, outside counsel and senior executives.
• Pragmatic, business-enabling approach and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a lean team.

Nice to haves

• In-house experience at a hyperscaler, cloud provider, data center operator or AI company.
• Working proficiency in an additional regional language (e.g., Mandarin, Korean, Japanese).
