Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and delivery-focused Senior Manager, Internal Communications to own Nscale's first-ever company intranet — from initial platform selection through to build, launch, and ongoing channel management. This is a foundational role: you will be the single owner of one of our most important internal infrastructure projects, responsible for creating the digital home that connects Nscale employees across our global sites. You will work in close partnership with the People team and IT team as your primary stakeholders — People as the lead content owner for employee-facing resources, and IT as your technical delivery partner. The right candidate is equal parts communications strategist, project manager, and digital channel owner, with a proven track record of delivering intranet projects in complex, fast-moving environments.
Key Responsibilities
Discovery & Platform Selection
- Lead a structured requirements-gathering process across the business, with particular focus on the People team and IT team, to define what the intranet needs to do and for whom
- Evaluate and recommend an intranet platform, leading the RFP or vendor selection process in collaboration with IT and Procurement
- Build the business case for platform investment, including cost modelling, timeline, and expected employee impact
- Own the vendor relationship from selection through contract, implementation, and beyond.
Build & Launch
- Define and own the intranet's information architecture, site structure, and navigation — ensuring it is intuitive and scalable as the company grows
- Establish a content governance model and editorial standards, including ownership rules for each section of the site
- Work with the People team to migrate and structure existing employee resources — including policies, benefits, onboarding materials, and org information — into the intranet
- Partner with IT to manage the technical implementation, including integrations with existing tools (e.g. Slack, Google Workspace, or Microsoft 365), SSO, and access controls
- Lead a phased launch plan, including internal communications, training sessions, and a rollout strategy that drives strong adoption from day one
- Coordinate content contributions from across the business ahead of launch, ensuring the intranet is populated and useful on go-live
Ongoing Channel Management
- Serve as the intranet's permanent channel owner post-launch — accountable for its ongoing quality, relevance, and performance
- Maintain the homepage and key landing pages, ensuring content is current, accurate, and editorially strong
- Manage the editorial calendar for intranet content, coordinating with content owners across People, IT, and other teams
- Train and support intranet content owners across the business, building capability so teams can self-serve within a governed framework
- Monitor site analytics and user engagement data, producing regular reports on performance and making data-driven recommendations for improvement
- Gather and act on employee feedback to continuously improve the user experience, content quality, and site structure
- Manage platform upgrades, new feature rollouts, and any technical changes in partnership with IT and the vendor
Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as the primary communications liaison between the People team and IT team, ensuring the intranet reflects both employee experience priorities and technical feasibility
- Work closely with the People team to ensure HR content — including policies, benefits, onboarding journeys, and company culture material — is well-structured, findable, and kept up to date
- Partner with IT on all technical aspects of the intranet, from implementation and integrations to ongoing maintenance and access management
- Engage senior stakeholders and department leads across the business to drive content contributions, champion the intranet internally, and maintain momentum post-launch
Skills & Experience
- 7–10 years of experience in internal communications, digital workplace, or employee experience, with a significant focus on intranet ownership or management
- Demonstrable experience leading an intranet build or relaunch — from platform selection and information architecture through to go-live and adoption — is essential
- Hands-on experience with one or more intranet or digital workplace platforms (e.g. SharePoint, Confluence, Notion, Staffbase, Interact, Simpplr, or similar)
- Strong understanding of information architecture, content governance, and how to structure an intranet that employees actually use
- Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders, tight timelines, and competing priorities
- Experience working closely with HR/People and IT teams, with an understanding of how intranet content intersects with employee lifecycle and technology environments
- Excellent written communication skills — able to write and edit clearly for a range of employee audiences
- Analytical approach to channel management, with experience using site analytics to measure performance and inform decisions
- Comfortable managing vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, implementation oversight, and ongoing platform management
- A builder — energized by the opportunity to create something from nothing and see it through to completion
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management instincts
- Collaborative and stakeholder-savvy, able to influence without authority across teams and seniority levels
- Proactive and self-directed — able to define the path forward in ambiguous situations
- Employee-obsessed, with a genuine belief that a well-designed intranet improves how people work
- High degree of discretion when handling sensitive organizational or people-related content
