Site Manager
THE ROLE
Working as part of a Global Technical Team you will be part of an international team with members in the UK, Italy, Chile and India. The core of this role is to daily supervise and analyse technically the performance of the solar plants, deliver daily monitoring, incident tracking and resolution, performance analysis and issue investigation and robust reporting to portfolios of solar PV. This role will ensure performance is optimized across a client’s portfolio by maximizing uptime; with strong management of service providers and other parties of the business (e.g. O&M, DNOs, clients, etc.), issue resolution and driving performance and quality improvements.
Overseeing a portfolio of clients/projects from onboarding and through to business as usual, the Site Manager will ensure that they have all the necessary data, technical documentation and information to manage their caseload of solar PV plants effectively with WiseEnergy’s consistent, industry-leading standards.
The position will require domestic travel to visit the sites under asset management to perform asset quality checks and supervise service providers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform site visits in a timely manner, in compliance with Construction and Asset Management agreements provisions and with HSE rules.
- Ensure quality control and quality assurance for sites under operation and construction.
- Ensure site visit reports are drafted and submitted accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Proactively ensure all issues reported from site visits are managed to a swift resolution.
- Ensure optimal PR/ availability per asset.
- Daily supervision and analysis of the PV portfolio technical performance and operations.
- Manage the relationships with Operation & Maintenance contractors and customer interface on technical issues.
- Support the other teams in providing regular compliance with the DNOs, insurance companies, Public Entities, etc.
- Ensure all O&M and EPC providers achieve, at a minimum, their contractual obligations.
- Ensure the conditions of the plants are compliant with HSE rules and provisions.
- Use insights and analysis of operational variables to generate the Annual Performance Optimization Plan reinforced with the use of cutting-edge technologies (to drive innovation).
- Prepare and deliver periodic reports on technical performance and other operational aspects of the plants.
- Ensure 100% security of all assets including full availability of CCTV systems (if applicable).
- Act as the representative of the PDT and technical asset management service to all existing and prospective clients.
- Lead on specific technical failures of the main components.
- Supervise the punch list works before and after plant acquisitions, and under construction.
- Work with third-party vendors to support project components (trackers, inverters, balance of plant equipment) installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and perform tracker and mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with third-party vendors and actively participate in meeting reviews to provide technical feedback about field operations and construction.
- Attend periodical meetings with the Technical Team in WiseEnergy offices.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Excellent communication skills (in English or/and other European languages) - you must be able to organize your thoughts in a way that others find clear and compelling. You will be expected to together well-written, grammatically correct emails and other communications. When communicating verbally – whether over the phone, on video calls, in person or in meetings – you will need to be articulate, warm and engaging.
- Flexibility - being an effective team player means being flexible in your approach and open to getting involved with new things, even if they are not spelled out in your job description.
- Intellectual Curiosity – Technical Management is a broad and nuanced field and we are looking for someone who is truly interested in our profession and has the intellectual curiosity to delve deep into topics and bring fresh ideas into the team.
- IT Literacy - you need to be comfortable with IT systems and working with data (you should have at least intermediate-level excel).
- Delivery focus – it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters!

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Electricity or Electronics or qualified to the same level through experience of other qualification.
- Experience in construction/maintenance of utility scale solar parks, most preferably as site managers / construction managers / O&M coordinator, Experience in ultra HV substation is ideal. Experience in working in a structured environment, using a quality management plan and knowledge / ability to develop their own in collaboration with the project manager and / or EPC / O&M according to each project’s needs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the technical characteristics of solar PV plants.
- Knowledge of the management of PV Portfolios.
- Understanding root cause of site problems.
- In depth analysis of the performance of the plants.
- Being able to avoid or limit substantial failures.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Experience in the management of O&M contractors.
- Knowledge of warranty claim processes.
- Be highly pro-active, possessing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Be a committed team player with the ability to multi-task, use initiative and perform well under pressure.
- Quality oriented.
- Interdisciplinary general knowledge.
- International experience would be a plus.
