THE ROLE

As a key member of the Global Technical Operations Team, you will collaborate with colleagues across the UK, the US, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Chile, Poland, and India. Your primary responsibilities include managing, leading, mentoring, and supervising a team of analysts who operate solar plants. You will focus on strategic planning, risk identification and mitigation, and making high-level operational decisions based on data and insights from your team. This role is critical for optimizing performance across third-party clients’ portfolios by maximizing uptime. Effective management of service providers and partners (e.g., O&M, DNOs, clients) is also essential.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Manager to lead a team of analysts responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of clients across the globe. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing client relationships and delivering successful projects in line with WiseEnergy’s consistent industry-leading standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working alongside Technical Analyst professionals, this role will be an integral role in the Technical team:
  • Oversee and manage a team of skilled analysts, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Develop and implement strategies to effectively manage and grow the client portfolio.
  • Ensure the timely and successful reporting and delivery of solutions according to client needs and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage contracts with equipment suppliers and service providers, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and conditions.
  • Prepare and present reports on project status, team performance, and client satisfaction to senior management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships being WiseEnergy’s interlocutor.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Team management: Proved experience managing, training and mentoring technical teams.
  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with asset operations, including technical failures, regulatory compliance, ESG, and health and safety.
  • Client Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients worldwide, understanding their needs and ensuring their satisfaction with our services.
  • Technical Performance Monitoring: Oversee independently the performance of solar energy assets managed by the team, identifying deviations from expected performance levels, and coordinating the team to implement corrective and preventive to maximize energy production and minimize downtime actions.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Previous experience collecting and analyzing data related to asset performance, energy production, and maintenance activities to generate reports and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Communication: Be a communicator, with the ability to deal with client, other departments and team members.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in asset management and/or technical expertise in the renewable energy industry
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, especially solar power systems (BESS and Wind knowledge is also valued).
  • Excellent project management capabilities.
  • Ability to fit in and adapt quickly and achieve in a fast-moving team
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills in English and Italian, with proficiency in additional languages being a plus.
  • The right to work in Italy.
