Working Student Scala Developer (m/f/d) - Fleet Coordination

Join us as a Working Student Scala Developer (m/f/d) in our Fleet Coordination team on a shared journey that matters!

The Fleet Coordination team develops and hosts the core part of MOIA’s Fleet API Product (Fleet State Service). When Trips are booked by customers and need to be dispatched to an available vehicle, the Fleet Coordination Team manages the whole flow. Their services are written in Scala with Pekko (Akka) and offered to the business via a gRPC interface. Internally, we’re using Redis, S3, SQS, and other AWS-native technologies. We deploy on Kubernetes and have CI/CD setups to help the team move quickly.

The role and your impact at MOIA 

  • Learn the domain; how ordered Customer Trips become Missions for our Vehicles, and how they are dispatched over the network.

  • Work in a Scala/Pekko code base.

  • Gain experience working in a dev-ops environment where we regularly deploy to production, and we take responsibility for the things we build once they are in the hands of real customers.

  • Work closely with colleagues from within the team and the wider organization.

Job responsibilities and detailed projects will be determined based on your educational background, interests and skills. 

What will help you to fulfill your role  

  • You are currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's or Master's program, preferably in Software Engineering, IT, or related fields.
  • To support you in your personal development and to be able to take ownership of projects and processes, you should be available for at least one year.

  • Scala knowledge, ideally. Knowledge of the JVM or another statically typed language is also acceptable.

  • Ability and willingness to learn a software domain. How does our system work overall? What does this team’s specific piece contribute?

  • Be comfortable, or willing to exercise the mental muscle of figuring out how complicated systems work in practice.

  • Some familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD workflows, real-time systems, or how databases work, and more.

Student Community 

We are diverse group of mostly students, who are curious, motivated and always eager to learn new things. We are a community of approx. 25 people, living in Hamburg and Berlin.
