The impact you will make
As a Draftsman in our visionary team working on laser-driven nuclear fusion, your work will directly shape the systems and components that will unlock an alternative clean energy source for the planet. Your role will not only involve making drawings in isolation; you will be collaborating with physicists, engineers, material scientists and nuclear experts on breakthrough technologies. Every line you draw will contribute to the most ambitious energy project of our generation. Your responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD software (Inventor)
- Convert conceptual designs and engineering sketches into detailed manufacturing drawings
- Collaborate closely with engineers, scientists and R&D teams to iterate on prototypes and final equipment
- Develop and maintain an organized library of technical drawings and related documentation
- Revise drawings based on design changes, feedback from prototyping and manufacturing
- Ensure drawings comply with relevant standards and manufacturing tolerances
- Assist in preparing and maintaining BOMs (Bill of Material), assembly instructions, and other technical documentation
- Support rapid prototyping processes (3D printing) by preparing suitable file formats and documentation
- Participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings to align equipment development and goals
- Assist in the assembling, testing , installation and commissioning of electro-mechanical components for the experiments
- Participate with and support the science team in the setup phase and during experimental campaigns, traveling to international laser laboratories
What you bring
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology or similar
- Minimum 2+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, and commissioning
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes, as well as GD&T
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schemes and technical documentation
- Experience with INVENTOR or similar CAD system
- Experience with VAULT or similar PDM system
- Fluency in English with excellent communication skills and a structured working style
- A healthy amount of flexibility, adaptability and can-do attitude
What sets you apart
- Experience working in scientific facilities or in the aerospace, nuclear, laser, optics industry
- Knowledge of EN 1090 or similar codes and standards
- Fluency in German is a plus
