The impact you will make
In this multifaceted and exciting role, you will be working as the interface between the Engineering and Experimental Physics department. Working alongside a team of Engineers to deliver high-quality Experimental setups involving complex electromechanical components and systems.
Your responsibilities
- Interact and collaborate with our scientists to design, build and test electromechanical systems for experimental setups both in Munich and abroad
- Fabrication of mechanical and automation systems for the test equipment
- Attending design review with electrical/mechanical engineers and scientists to provide design recommendations for best practices on systems fabrication
- Support the science team in the preparation phase and during experimental campaigns
- Building and wiring electrical cabinets and harnesses following design schematics
- Creating best practices documentation for high quality machine builds and safe work standards
- Create and maintain the relevant engineering documentation
- Validate, integrate, deploy and troubleshoot test systems on the production line
- Workshop management to ensure availability of the tools, inventory and an effective workspace
What you bring
- Completed vocational education as Electrical Technician, Mechatronics Technician or equivalent
- Experience working on building electrical cabinets and mechanical automation systems
- Experience with EPLAN, Electrical solid works, Auto Cad electrical, or similar electrical design software
- Good fundamental understanding of electrical systems and how to troubleshoot them
- Strong experience with reading and interpreting electrical schematics and circuits, wiring diagrams and harness drawings
- Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools, and lab equipment
- Experience using wiring tools such as crimpers, wire splicing, soldering, pin extraction tools
- Experience with measurement instrumentation & power distribution hardware (oscilloscope, multimeters, power supplies, transfomers...)
- Excellent communication skills and a structured working style
- Willingness to travel and spend time at international laser laboratories
- Ability to communicate in English in a work environment
What sets you apart
- Fluent in German is a plus, but not mandatory
- Experience with OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) in a version-controlled environment and following relevant software life cycle processes (ISO/IEC 12207:2017)
- Knowledge of PCB board and electrical circuit design in accordance with IEC 61191-1 and IEC 60204-1
- Understanding of mechanical assembly design, machining, 3D printing, laser cutting equipment are preferred
- Understanding about multi-axis CNC motion systems
