We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join Kambi’s Data Platform stream, where they will play a key role in building and scaling a decentralized, self-serviced data platform as part of our Data Mesh journey. At Kambi, we believe in the power of data to inform, improve, and transform — and our goal is to enable teams across the organization through high-quality, accessible data products.
The Role & Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer, you will help shape our modern data platform by aligning data mesh principles with the practical implementation of reliable, scalable data products. You’ll contribute both to the technical foundation of our platform and to cross-functional initiatives that drive adoption and support business stakeholders. You will design and implement analytical data models that enable data insights for stakeholders.
You’ll initially join the Data Warehouse team, collaborating closely with Analytics Engineers, Data Engineers and stakeholders to build and maintain data products that serve real business needs. Over time, you may work in smaller cross-functional teams focused on specific domains within our unified data platform.
Key aspects of the role:
- Build and maintain data models using dbt,
- Support the creation and lifecycle management of domain-oriented data products,
- Contribute to the platform's evolution from a traditional data warehouse to a Lakehouse architecture (powered by Iceberg, Trino, and AWS),
- Collaborate with business users to understand data needs and translate them into robust, reusable data transformations,
- Help define and advocate for best practices in data modeling, CI/CD, and orchestration
Your Profile
We believe you may recognize yourself in several of the following:
- Previous experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar field,
- Solid experience with SQL for complex analytical queries and performance optimization for reporting workloads, and working knowledge of Python,
- Hands-on experience with dbt or similar transformation tools,
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based infrastructure (especially AWS),
- Experience in close collaboration with analytics engineers and business users to develop data solutions optimized for reporting and business intelligence,
- Bonus if you have experience with orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow) or containerization (e.g. k8s),
Above all, you are curious, collaborative, and motivated to help teams use data more effectively. You enjoy engaging in technical discussions, learning new tools, and helping others find simple solutions to complex problems.
Is Kambi a place for you?
We highly value soft skills such as collaboration, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Our teams have a high level of autonomy in decisions around solutions and ways of working. You will thrive in this role if you are curious, enjoy technical discussions with your team and willing to collaborate to find the most suitable solution.
We offer friendly, welcoming, and inclusive working culture in an international work environment. We value learning and development, both on an individual level and as a whole organization. It is important for us that we grow together. We like to have fun with our colleagues, but we also understand that each employee needs their flexibility to thrive.
And one last thing...
We would be happy if you tick off all our boxes, yet we also believe it is just as important we tick off all of yours. And if you think you have most of what we are looking for, but not every single thing, go ahead and hit apply. We would still love to hear from you!
We want a balance between office work and working from home. We believe we will all gain from the best of both worlds, so the way of working in Kambi is hybrid – we want to have a chance to work with you in our Stockholm office 2 days in a week.
