About the Role

As an Engineering Operations Specialist at Ocado Technology, you’ll be a central figure in driving technical excellence and supporting the successful delivery of key initiatives across our global engineering operations. This role sits at the heart of our technical operations, where you’ll contribute to product development, support operational rollouts, and help shape global engineering operations standards and practices, driving an effective and efficient operation.

You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders, advocate for central engineering services, and support new site launches—ensuring our systems are efficient, scalable, and meet business needs. You’ll play a hands-on role in problem-solving, technical design, process and policy, and continuous improvement, becoming a trusted advisor and technical leader within both your team and global eng ops.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and contributing to technical decisions and continuous improvement efforts
  • Supporting product development through the full lifecycle—design, build, test, deploy, and support
  • Providing 1st and 2nd line support and assisting with incident resolution and root cause analysis
  • Monitoring new product and process developments and ensuring key stakeholders are informed
  • Supporting site launches, operational readiness, and standardisation of practices across teams

About you

  • Able and prepared to travel internationally supporting our global engineering operations.
  • You'll have spent two years in the Hardware Engineering Graduate program.
  • You have experience supporting major site launches, managing operational practices, leading in crisis situations, and applying LEAN or Six Sigma principles on-site.
  • You’re a confident communicator with excellent listening skills, able to tailor your message to suit your audience and share knowledge effectively.
  • You bring empathy, humility, and collaboration into everything you do, with a strong track record of working closely with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams.
  • You thrive in complex, fast-paced environments, adapting quickly, thinking logically, and making informed decisions—even in ambiguous situations.
  • You're passionate about continuous improvement, mentoring others, and delivering high-quality outcomes—never settling for "good enough."
