This posting is for hourly paid logistics employees to apply through.

Senior Product Manager - Retrieval | Storage, Peripherals & Retrieval | Hybrid Working | Hatfield

About Us

We are Ocado Group and we're bringing world-class automation to online grocery. Our Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) combines cutting-edge robotics, AI and IoT within our advanced CFCs (Customer Fulfilment Centres). We've mastered the single pick, transforming online delivery for our global partners. Join us and be part of a team pushing the boundaries of retail technology.

About the Role

Storage, Peripherals & Retrieval is the product area behind the automated systems at the heart of Ocado's automated warehouses: the grid, the peripherals and the bots that run on it. Our mission is to develop the world's leading ASRS: highly cost-competitive, reliable, easy to launch and support and suitable for diverse global use cases.

As the Senior Product Manager for Retrieval, you will own the product strategy and roadmap for our bot, battery and charger fleet. Retrieval is the core driver of grid movement - bots transport stock and customer orders between grid locations, stations and ports, meaning every customer order depends on their availability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Operating at the intersection of hardware, firmware, wireless and cloud software, you will lead a critical product domain where even a small change to a bot scales across every operational site globally. You will collaborate closely with mechanical, mechatronics, firmware, wireless and cloud engineering teams, as well as manufacturing and field support teams, driving complex problem-solving and cross-domain alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Shape and execute the product vision for complex initiatives across the bot, battery and charger domain, balancing short- and long-term goals to lower Capex, Opex and lead time.
  • Commercial & Data Leadership: Define key domain metrics connected directly to business outcomes. Manage financial rationale, balance KPI impacts and make informed Build vs. Buy decisions.
  • Execution & Problem Solving: Lead discovery and problem-solving across cross-functional teams, setting high standards for scoping, requirements and data-driven hypothesis testing.
  • Product Adoption & Scale: Build adoption metrics into domain capabilities, monitor usage across customer segments and collaborate with Solutions, Partner Growth and Partner Success teams to drive global rollout.
  • Stakeholder Management & Evangelism: Manage relationships across engineering crafts, leadership levels and external partners. Articulate complex technical decisions clearly and build strong buy-in.
  • Domain Expertise & Leadership: Serve as the recognized go-to expert for Retrieval, providing strategic guidance, mentoring surrounding PMs and stepping into leadership moments for the Product Director when needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Substantial, battle-tested product management experience owning end-to-end product lifecycles for complex engineering products shipped at scale.
  • Proven track record of leading product discovery, setting product strategy in uncertain environments and making high-impact strategic trade-offs.
  • Strong experience building product roadmaps alongside Design and Engineering peers, owning the business case and ROI.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, UX, Data, delivery teams and external partners or clients.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver on commitments.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with products that combine hardware and software (e.g., robotics, connected devices or industrial automation).
  • Experience mentoring or coaching other Product Managers.

Benefits

We believe in supporting our people with meaningful, flexible benefits that prioritise well-being and work-life balance. Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect:
