THE ROLE

As an HR Generalist, you’ll be a trusted partner to managers across both Corporate and Retail, providing proactive HR support and taking the lead on Employee Relations matters. You’ll ensure fairness, compliance, and consistency while also contributing to the design and delivery of people initiatives that drive engagement, performance, and an exceptional employee experience.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Delivering practical, forward-thinking HR guidance that aligns with employment law, company policies, and best practice.

  • Managing employee relations issues end-to-end, including investigations, conflict resolution, and absence management.

  • Supporting managers with performance management, coaching, and people development processes.

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and educating teams accordingly.

  • Coordinating leave of absence processes (e.g. FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave) and implementing absence management procedures.

  • Partnering with Talent Acquisition and People Ops to ensure seamless onboarding and offboarding.

  • Collaborating with Payroll and Benefits teams to validate payroll accuracy, support audits, and ensure compliance.

  • Analysing People data to identify trends and provide insights that inform decision-making.

  • Training retail managers to ensure accurate time and attendance records.

  • Championing a positive, inclusive employee experience across all touchpoints.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum of three years’ proven HR experience in a generalist or specialist role, ideally within a fast-paced retail environment.

  • Strong knowledge of New York State and New York City labor laws.

  • Experience working with the ADP TotalSource platform.

  • A natural collaborator, able to build strong relationships across teams and functions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences.

  • Comfortable working autonomously in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

  • Commercially aware, creative, and solutions-focused with the ability to think laterally.

  • High levels of integrity, respect, and personal credibility.

  • Strong judgement and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills:

  • SHRM qualification (or equivalent).

  • Multi-state HR experience.

  • Awareness of global employment legislation and experience supporting remote international teams.

SALARY RANGE

This role has a salary range between $90,000 - $110,000. The base pay offered is based on market, experience, and skills.
