We are seeking a Senior Quality Automation Engineer with a strong background in quality engineering, test automation, and DevOps. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain well-structured, test automation frameworks focusing on simplicity and efficiency. This role requires excellent communication and analytical skills and the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will work on the Groupon platform, integrating with backend services to ensure the high reliability, availability, performance, and operational readiness of the platform.

Our Test Engineering team drives architecture, design, implementation, and testing for high-visibility, high-impact products in our tech organization. We aim to be trailblazers in implementing custom test automation solutions for our platform architecture, following best engineering practices to maintain performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Design requirements, participate in user acceptance testing (UAT), and provide feedback for system enhancements.
• Assist in preparing and delivering presentations, reports, and recommendations to senior management.
• Design, develop, and maintain scripts, services, and tools using TypeScript and Playwright.
• Analyze and report on key quality metrics and test coverage.
• Review and analyze daily regression results, reporting bugs as needed.
• Provide hands-on automation experience with web, mobile, and API applications.
• Define test approaches and strategies in collaboration with product teams.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• At least 5 years of hands-on test automation experience.
• Advanced skills with automation tools like Playwright, TypeScript, and Selenium.
• Expertise in creating test automation frameworks from scratch.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Solid background in API testing and performance tools.
• Proficiency in Git and adherence to coding best practices.
• Deep experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, especially for scalable solution design.
• A sharp analytical mind to tackle complex problems.
• Strong communication skills and a results-oriented mindset.

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Experience with Cucumber and Gherkin.
• Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker.
