Senior Prototyping Engineer – Assembly Process (all genders)

About the role

We are looking for a Prototyping Engineer (all genders) for our Prototyping & Manufacturing Center (in building system development) located in Eppingen-Richen (DE) with focus on readiness of building systems for construction (building assembly).

As Prototyping Engineer you take a key role in planning, practically verifying and optimizing our building system designs for assembly on construction site. You collaborate closely with experts for building system design, test engineering as well as assembly planning and execution. Your work integrates into our development, change and improvement processes.

Your tasks:

• Contribute to the design and development of new products (building system and respective prefabricated elements)
• Evaluation of building system draft designs regarding fitness of designs for execution on site
• Participation in design reviews and releases
• Planning, preparation, guidance and execution of assembly trials with prototype elements at our production site in Richen
• Documentation of test results and looping outcomes back to product design and assembly planning
• Definition of work standards and specifications for building assembly
• Identification, initiation and processing of design improvements with respective subject matter experts
• Training and preparation of assembly teams for construction works
• Expert support for building assembly incl. capturing of necessary improvement
• Gather actual assembly process data on site

About you

• Educational background in timber construction, wood technology, carpentry or comparable experience
• 5 years of professional experience in timber construction, ideally with serial and modular construction systems as well as on site construction experience
• Expertise in timber construction is beneficial
• Practical mind and commitment to maintenance of respective documentation
• Enjoying work in a wide range of activities throughout design and test stage towards construction phase with related documentation
• Readiness to temporarily work on construction sites (technical support to assembly teams), primarily in Germany and Austria, to a maximum extent of 30%
• Good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
