We are on the hunt for a Lead Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer to build the next generation Motherbrain AI platform to enhance business processes at EQT. The Motherbrain AI platform is designed to integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into business workflows and products, automating tasks such as summarization, data extraction, and analysis of internal & external data. The Motherbrain AI platform features enables the development of AI workflows with a focus on scalability, usability, traceability and support for domain-specific applications.

About the Role:

As Lead AI Engineer, you will have the unique chance to shape the future of the Motherbrain AI Platform. You will design and build AI-powered workflows to enhance developers productivity, thereby delivering and supporting strategic goals and have a lasting impact at EQT. 

You will be part of an inclusive, multi-cultural team that believes in the power of collaboration and will harness your unique personal and professional skills to build high-performing software and solutions.

You will be working together with Data Scientists, Fullstack Engineers, Backend Engineers, Data Engineers, UI and UX Designers, and Business Stakeholders to take the Motherbrain AI platform to the next level and leverage AI as a core part of EQT’s strategy. 

Key Responsibilities:

This role requires an understanding on how to bridge the latest generative AI technologies and tools with the more established platform engineering practices covering the operational necessities of the entire lifecycle of an application. The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our AI platform, ensuring its high performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features of the platform.
• Leverage LLM APIs, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), LLMOps, Agent Frameworks and related concepts to build cutting edge AI systems.
• Manage applications in GCP.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tools to ensure seamless deployment, traceability and scalability.
• Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies to keep our platform at the forefront of technological advancements.
• Ensure AI solutions adhere to ethical guidelines, data privacy regulations, and industry standards.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. PhD is not required for this role.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in AI, machine learning, and software engineering, with a proven track record of deploying AI solutions in a production environment.

Technical Skills

• Technical Leadership: driving technological decision making and building relationships with stakeholders and other tech teams.
• Strong proficiency in writing production-grade Python software.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms and design patterns for software and AI engineering.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
• Understanding of FastAPI, REST, GraphQL, React and other tools used for backend and frontend integration.
• Solid understanding of security and privacy best practices when working with sensitive or proprietary data in AI systems.
• Experience with database technologies and data transformation pipelines (e.g. dbt, BigQuery, ElasticSearch, Redis, PostgreSQL, … ).

Nice to Have

• Experience with Platform Engineering, e.g. as an SRE or a similar role. 
• Hands-on experience with LangChain and LangSmith for building and managing AI workflows.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Practical experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Strong background in NLP techniques and tools, particularly for summarization, data extraction, and large-scale textual analysis.
