Ebury’s strategic growth plan would not be possible without our Data team and we are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team!
Our data mission is to develop and maintain Ebury’s Data Platform and serve it to the whole company, where Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers and Data Analysts work collaboratively.
As a Staff Data Engineer, you will work closely with the rest of the team to help model and maintain the Data Platform.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the architectural design, development, and maintenance of a robust and scalable data platform, setting the highest technical standards for solutions consumed across the company.
- Align with senior stakeholders and leadership to define the technical strategy for data, articulating complex technical trade-offs and ensuring platform roadmaps meet defined business requirements.
- Serve as a recognized expert and the go-to person for complex problem-solving within the data domain, overseeing multiple workstreams and delivering impactful projects.
- Proactively seek to enhance our data stack with industry trends and champion innovation within the team to elevate our data capabilities.
- Technically lead large-scale data initiatives, identifying opportunities to reduce complexity, improve reliability, and enhance efficiency.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies, setting the standard for data quality and security while mentoring other engineers to uphold these best practices.
- Mentor other engineers within the domain, unblocking their delivery through technical support and contributing to a positive team culture.
About you:
- Proficiency in Python for data transformation and validation
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and managing large datasets, as well as extensive experience working with structured and unstructured data sources.
- Deep expertise in data engineering and modelling skills such as slowly changing dimensions and dimensional modelling.
- Graph database modelling encouraged.
- Event driven architecture data modelling encouraged.
- Extensive, hands-on experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and cloud platforms, including leading the architectural design and strategic implementation of data solutions at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to technically lead large-scale projects, align senior stakeholders on technical strategy, and present complex proposals to leadership.
- Proven track record of mentoring engineers and setting technical standards within a team.
- Deep experience with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) tools and services, such as BigQuery, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions.
- Self-motivation and curiosity, with a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment, continuously improving both technical and business skills.
- Fluency in English (Spanish, a plus).
