The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software components that support Cision’s global SaaS platform. This role contributes to the full software development lifecycle and collaborates cross-functionally with teams across regions. The position requires solid technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to deliver in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
What You'll Do
- Build high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and daily stand-up
- Contribute to system and application architecture discussions, ensuring scalable and maintainable design patterns
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and QA to deliver new features
- Develop APIs and services with security, performance, and reliability in mind
- Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to shared coding standards
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing
- Support deployment and operational monitoring of applications
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team

What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain highquality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
- Contribute to system and application architecture discussions, helping shape designs that meet performance, reliability, and scalability goals.
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs with security, performance, and resilience as firstclass concerns.
- Write performant C# and SQL code to support enterprisescale workloads (serving over 800,000 users across our applications).
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to deliver features end-to-end.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Conduct peer code reviews, uphold shared coding standards, and promote software craftsmanship.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems in production environments.
- Support deployments, monitoring, and operational improvements as part of a continuous delivery mindset.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers where appropriate.
What You Bring
Core Technical Skills
- 3+ years of professional experience developing web applications using C# and .NET.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and practical experience applying common design patterns.
- 3+ years of experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and writing efficient SQL.
- Experience building enterprise or SaaS applications, with attention to performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Hands-on experience with at least one modern front-end framework such as Angular or React.
Engineering Practices
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable fullstack code.
- Experience working in a professional engineering environment that values:
- Git-based source control
- Code reviews
- Unit and integration testing
- Continuous integration and delivery
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) in short sprint cycles.
Collaboration & Mindset
- Proactive, selfstarting, and ownershiporiented approach to problem solving.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working with globally distributed teams across time zones.

Bonus / NicetoHave Skills
- Experience with ORM or data access frameworks such as Entity Framework, Dapper, or NHibernate.
- Practical experience with unit testing and exposure to TDD or BDD practices.
- Experience with serviceoriented or microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and production monitoring.
- Experience with containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
