Reporting into Founder/CEO | Based in Berlin (4+ days in office)
Moss is scaling from EUR 50mn→100mn ARR and 300→400 FTEs in 2026. We’re hiring an experienced People leader to take Moss’ talent density and performance culture to the next level. Your mission? Build one of the most talent-dense, high-performing teams in Europe.
What you’ll own
1) Talent & Hiring Engine (together with the Head of Talent Acquisition + 7 FTEs)
- Workforce planning: Own org design & headcount planning to keep us lean as we scale.
- Talent density & quality: Bring in world-class talent and keep our talent bar high.
- Hiring velocity: Drive top-of-funnel and process metrics to ensure we hit our headcount plan.
- Exec hiring & succession: Run leadership searches and ensure succession for critical roles.
2) High-Performance Everything (together with the People Solutions team of 1-2 FTEs, both to hire)
- Culture: Codify culture with our founders, embed our values/behaviors across Moss, and be the face of our company culture within and outside of Moss.
- Performance & talent frameworks: Own performance and progression processes incl. biannual promotion/comp and feedback cycles, a top-talent program, regular talent mapping.
- Compensation: Own our comp strategy and bands across cash, VSOP, benefits, incentives.
- Attrition/retention: Minimize unwanted attrition while executing fair, fast exits when needed.
- BPing & leadership development: Coach, train, and spar with managers. Business partner with them to drive better decision making on a wide range of people topics within their teams.
- Engagement: Run surveys and conduct stay interviews to track sentiment and churn risk.
- Change management: Plan, communicate, and embed change (change =constant at Moss!).
3) Operational Excellence (with the Head of People Ops + 1 FTE, plus 2 Office Managers)
- Flawless ops: Ensure that onboarding, offboarding, payroll, etc. “just work”; that people data is clean and accessible; and that employee requests are responded to swiftly.
- Automation & scale: Keep ops lean across entities/geos, leveraging AI and our tooling stack.
- Risk & compliance: Keep us compliant and audit-ready without slowing the business down.
- Offices & events: Lead the team that manages our office portfolio and day-to-day ops, organizes company events, and enforces our T&E policies.
About you
- You have 5+ years’ experience leading People functions in high growth startups (100+ FTEs)
- You’re a generalist who’s led lean, high performing teams in the People functions listed above
- You’ve implemented best-in-class frameworks across e.g., performance, comp, progression
- You are comfortable in a global role and with labor law across multiple EU geographies
- You’re a player-coach (must have!): you’re hands-on and own your own workstreams
- You have a bias for speed and prefer lean startup-like processes to big-company programs
- You’re data-driven and like to run People like a product (KPIs, MVPs, sprints)
- You are an inspiring guide, mentor and coach for your team – both managers and ICs
- You thrive in a high candor/high accountability environment and enjoy working with founders
- You’re unfazed by a high performance bar, face pace, and frequent change
- You are a low-ego sparring partner: you like to challenge/be challenged by leadership
