Our culture is open, flexible, inclusive, and engaging. Working at frog means being empowered to Make Your Mark on every project, your studio, your community—and the world at large.

What will you be doing?

At frog, we see Service Design as a core component of the larger challenge of business and product innovation. Service Design practitioners work on service design programs, as well as the service design component of digital or physical experience design programs, fluently combining human, business and technology viewpoints.

As a Service Design Intern, you will learn by doing, with guidance from experienced practitioners, who will help you understand and deliver the service design activities assigned to you in the context of interdisciplinary projects.

Project teams rely on Service Designers to:

  • Break down complex user experiences and communicate a holistic view of service ecosystems using Systems Thinking methodologies, considering the entire end-to-end experience across multiple touchpoints and channels
  • Pursue strategic buy-in from the client’s organisation by identifying and improving the behind-the-scenes support structures that enable an optimal customer experience
  • Champion visual frameworks – like journey maps, service blueprints, ecosystem maps – that help bring clarity to complex challenges in human behaviour, relationships, workflows and processes, and drive decision-making
  • Become the voice of the user in all aspects of design, prototyping, testing and delivery – advocating for service providers as much as service users
  • Identify optimization opportunities within a service ecosystem and consider the impact and benefits to both users and business stakeholders.

On a typical project you will support activities including:

  • Defining new product/service value propositions and implementation roadmaps
  • Mapping both the front stage and backstage components of an experience, including the behind-the-scenes mechanisms such as employees, processes, technology, governance, organisational structures and culture
  • Creating digital product and convergent experience concepts that push the bar for quality within a given field
  • Collaborating with other team members to bring service components to life through a variety of fidelities including flowcharts, sketches, screen design, or high-fidelity interactive prototypes
  • Supporting the team during Design Research activities, including the preparation of research tools and protocols and the synthesis of emerging insights, through relevant frameworks (e.g. Personas, Human Archetypes and Customer Journeys)
  • Supporting project deliverables and presentations at various stages, through asset production and storytelling
  • Contributing to the preparation and facilitation of collaborative workshops, both for co-creation, stakeholder engagement, knowledge transfer, and capacity building purposes

We want you to have:

  • Business level fluency in English and German
  • Recently completed, or will complete within 1 year, a university degree in Service Design, Interaction Design or a related design or behavioural science discipline
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, contextual inquiry, and A/B testing
  • Well-developed core design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
  • Proficiency in digital design and prototyping tools, such as Figma
  • Willingness to quickly learn and grow your service design skills on the job, while jumping between different industries and client challenges
  • Ability to rationalize your decisions effectively and present your work clearly, through strong presentation design and storytelling techniques using Keynote, PowerPoint, Mural, Figma etc.
  • Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Affinity with frog’s values, and a passion for creating services that meet peoples’ functional and emotional needs

It would be a bonus if you had:

  • Experience working in a variety of organisations (start-up, corporate, agency/consultancy)
  • Academic, professional, or life experience from outside the design field that enriches your perspective as a designer
  • Strong Figma skills to design realistic digital touchpoint interactions with services
  • Skills in digital product design as well, including knowledge of interaction patterns and how to work with UI component libraries
