Position Overview:
The Senior Ledger Accountant is responsible for overseeing the general ledger (GL) functions, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to maintain accurate financial statements. The Senior Ledger Accountant will collaborate with other finance team members to support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
What You will do (Responsibilities) :
- General Ledger Management:
o Oversee the daily activities of the general ledger, ensuring accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
o Ensure the proper coding of transactions and their alignment with company policies and accounting standards.
o Review and ensure the accuracy of accounting entries and posting in the GL. - Month-End & Year-End Closing:
o Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all transactions are posted accurately and timely.
o Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
o Assist with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules. - Account Reconciliation & Reporting:
o Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
o Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
o Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. - Compliance & Controls:
o Ensure all accounting activities comply with internal policies, IFRS standards, and regulatory requirements.
o Maintain and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial records.
o Assist with the implementation of new accounting procedures and standards. - Financial Analysis & Forecasting:
o Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and provide insights to management.
o Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate and timely financial information.
o Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial projections. - Collaboration & Communication:
o Work closely with other finance team members, such as AP, AR, , to ensure seamless accounting processes.
o Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders as needed.
o Assist in training and mentoring junior accounting staff, providing guidance on complex accounting issues. - Process Improvement & System Enhancements:
o Continuously identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the general ledger process.
o Support the implementation of automation tools or new accounting systems to streamline operations.
Who You are (Qualifications) :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role, with a focus on month-end and year-end closing.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS standards, and internal controls.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with accounting automation or system implementations.
- Familiarity with ZOHO Books or similar financial software.
- Knowledge of tax compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.
This position is ideal for an experienced ledger accountant with 5 to 7 years of experience looking to take on greater responsibility and contribute to a high-performing finance team.
