About The Role

Our multi-disciplinary design, engineering and project delivery teams have a long-standing track record of delivering complex projects across the UK. We work with clients operating in highly regulated and secure environments, delivering projects across sectors including Defence, Custodial, Power and the wider public sector.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a high-calibre and enthusiastic CDM Principal Designer to join our team based in our Eurocentral office. In this role, you will support the Lead CDM Manager in fulfilling statutory duties across a diverse and sensitive project portfolio.

 

About You

You will work closely with multi-disciplinary design teams, clients and contractors to proactively manage health and safety risks throughout the design, construction and handover stages of projects. You will also support the ongoing delivery of CDM-related training across the business to reinforce competence and best practice.

Being self-motivated, proactive and confident in working within complex environments, you will bring a strong understanding of CDM regulations and the ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.

 

Key Purpose

  • Support delivery of Principal Designer duties in compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations
  • Assist in managing design risk and ensuring health and safety is embedded throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide guidance and contribute to CDM best practice across project teams
  • Support the management and delivery of CDM services, including coordination, documentation and stakeholder engagement

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead CDM Manager in executing all statutory duties of the Principal Designer role
    Coordinate with architects, engineers and project teams to identify, eliminate and control foreseeable health and safety risks
  • Facilitate CDM review workshops with design teams
  • Develop, manage and maintain CDM Risk Registers
  • Gather, compile and distribute Pre-Construction Information (PCI) during the design phase
  • Assist in the preparation of Pre-Construction Information packs and final Health and Safety Files
  • Act as a central point of contact between the Client, Designers and Principal Contractor, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
  • Monitor ongoing design changes to ensure alignment with the principles of prevention
    Manage sensitive and classified project documentation in line with strict company procedures
  • Support the delivery of CDM training and promote best practice across the business

 

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience within a consultancy environment setting, ideally with exposure to high-regulation sectors.
  • Degree or higher diploma in architecture, engineering, construction management, or occupational health and safety.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Professional membership (or working towards chartership) with a relevant architectural, engineering or health & safety body is preferred
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain UK SC Security Clearance

Desirable 

  • Professional Membership: Membership of and working toward chartership of an architectural, engineering, engineering related and health and safety professional body is preferred.

 

Many of the positions within our company are subject to security clearance or security assurance levels.

 

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance or assurance level for this role, in line with client and sector requirements.

In some cases, additional nationality or residency criteria may also apply due to specific client or national security obligations.
