Join Our Team of Infrastructure Experts and Shape the Future of Our Services

We're a dynamic team of highly motivated infrastructure service experts, and we're looking for talented individuals like you to join our ranks. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll play a key role in planning, implementing, migrating, and operating our critical DNS, DHCP, NTP, and IP Management Services, working closely with system administrators and network engineers.

Your Mission:

  • Collaborate with our team to design, develop, and operate high-available services on Linux, ensuring seamless integration with our operational requirements and product requirements.
  • Take ownership of the full stack, from hardware to application, including configuration management and monitoring, and drive continuous improvement and development.
  • Contribute to our open-source projects, such as DIM (github.com/ionos-cloud/dim) and monzero (github.com/ionos-cloud/monzero), and help shape the future of our infrastructure.
  • Support our system administrators in automating operational tasks and rollouts, and provide interfaces for integration with our hosting products.
  • Participate in an on-call service rotation, ensuring the smooth operation of our complex infrastructure.

Our Tools and Methodologies:

  • We use Puppet as our configuration management system, but we're open to candidates with experience in other systems like Ansible, CFEngine, or Salt.
  • We believe in measuring everything, so you'll work with Observability Stacks (e.g., collectd/telegraf, metrictank, influx, Grafana) to monitor and improve our services.
  • Our network engineers work with BGP and DNS, and we're looking for someone with experience in these areas.
  • We also use iBGP, eBGP, anycast routing, and ECMP to ensure high availability and efficient traffic management.

Our Guiding Principles:

  • We're attracted to people who share our passion for quality and efficiency. If you're drawn to the following guidelines, we'd love to hear from you:
    • "If you can't measure it, you can't improve it." We believe in data-driven decision-making and continuous monitoring.
    • "Do it once, do it right." We're looking for people who value quality and attention to detail.
    • "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." We're committed to simplicity and efficiency in our systems and processes.

We're Looking for:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a comparable education, with a strong interest in infrastructure topics and good network knowledge.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in administering complex services on Linux, with expertise in infrastructure as code and automation.
  • Several years of experience in system-near development of highly available software artifacts, using programming or scripting languages like Go, Python, Bash, and Java.
  • Practical experience with operating DNS, NTP (ntpd, chrony, Meinberg), DHCP, and IP-Management.
  • Familiarity with Puppet or other configuration management systems, and experience with Observability Stacks.
  • A passion for Open Source, especially Linux, and excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus).

What We Offer:

  • A dynamic and collaborative team environment with a culture of creative ideas and agile working methods.
  • The opportunity to work on complex, high-available services and contribute to the development of our open-source projects.
  • A chance to shape the future of our infrastructure and drive innovation in our DevOps environment.
  • Fixed salary and flexible benefits include health insurance, daycare allowance, and meal vouchers.
  •  Flexible working hours to organize your schedule according to your needs
  • Invitation to our Arsys/IONOS events held twice a year, where we team build and throw a great party for our employees
  • Personalized training in cutting-edge technologies, certifications, or any area that interests you.
