Systems Accountant

What We Are Looking For
Finance and Lloyd’s Market Experience
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
Experience within the insurance sector, ideally within the Lloyd’s market.
Understanding of Lloyd’s reporting requirements and finance operations.
Systems and Technical Capability
Experience working with finance systems in a syndicate or insurance environment.
Advanced Excel skills.
Working knowledge of SQL or similar database tools.
Process Improvement and Controls
Experience improving financial processes and driving efficiencies.

Head of Partner Syndicates Finance
Your Role
Apollo is seeking a Head of Partner Syndicates Finance to lead the finance activity across our Partner Syndicates portfolio.
This role sits at the centre of Apollo’s Partner Syndicates finance function, with responsibility for onboarding new syndicates, establishing robust finance processes, and overseeing the ongoing financial delivery across multiple managed syndicates.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across Apollo, syndicate partners, auditors, outsourced providers, and external stakeholders, you will ensure strong financial control, high-quality reporting, and full compliance with Lloyd’s regulatory requirements. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on the success and growth of Apollo’s diverse and growing portfolio of Partner Syndicates.What you’ll do
Lead the end-to-end onboarding and establishment of finance functions for new Partner Syndicates, ensuring robust controls, reporting frameworks, and operational readiness from day one
Own the financial oversight of multiple Apollo-managed syndicates, ensuring accurate, consistent, and controlled finance delivery
Oversee the monthly UK GAAP close process across all Apollo-managed syndicates, maintaining strong financial control and reporting accuracy
Take ownership of Lloyd’s regulatory reporting, including Quarterly Monitoring Returns (QMA, QMB), Quarterly Solvency Returns (QSR), and Annual Data Returns (QAD), ensuring timely and accurate submission
Act as the primary finance contact for senior internal stakeholders, syndicate partners, auditors, third-party providers, and other external stakeholders
Coordinate multiple workstreams across Apollo, external partners, offshore teams, and outsourced providers to deliver smooth and controlled outcomes
Lead and coordinate external audits across multiple syndicates, ensuring effective planning, issue resolution, and high-quality outcomes
Prepare Board and Committee reporting, delivering clear, accurate, and insightful financial information to support decision-making
Resolve complex financial and operational issues, providing subject matter expertise and practical solutions
Strengthen and evolve financial controls, processes, and governance frameworks as the Partner Syndicates portfolio grows
What we are looking for
Fully qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, with experience in the Lloyd’s or London Market insurance environment
Strong understanding of Lloyd’s reporting requirements, including QMA, QMB, QSR, and QAD
Proven experience leading UK GAAP close processes and delivering high-quality financial reporting
Experience operating across multiple entities, multi-syndicate structures, or outsourced delivery models
Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines, and priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Experience coordinating audits and working within controlled, regulated environments
Strong focus on governance, compliance, financial controls, and process integrity
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

Underwriting Governance Analyst
Your Role
Apollo is looking for an Underwriting Governance Analyst to support the continued growth of its Platform Partner Syndicates (PPS) portfolio.
This role sits at the centre of underwriting governance activity across multiple syndicates, helping to maintain strong governance standards, oversight, controls, and reporting within a fast-evolving and strategically important area of the business. Working closely with underwriting, operations, and wider business stakeholders, you will support committee governance, controls monitoring, management information, and continuous improvement activity across the PPS portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Lloyd’s market experience looking to further develop their underwriting governance, controls, or operational expertise within a collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do
Support the delivery and ongoing enhancement of Apollo’s underwriting governance framework across the PPS portfolio, helping to drive consistency in governance standards, committee processes, controls monitoring, and reporting
Coordinate underwriting committees across multiple syndicates, including agenda preparation, meeting packs, minute taking, action tracking, and follow-up activity
Monitor underwriting controls, identify deficiencies, exceptions, emerging risks, and areas requiring escalation, while supporting the ongoing development of the underwriting control framework
Produce accurate and timely governance reporting and management information, ensuring activity is delivered within agreed service levels
Support the maintenance of underwriting authorities, peer review processes, underwriting exceptions reporting, and wider governance documentation and policies
Build strong relationships across underwriting, operations, and support functions to promote an effective governance culture across the portfolio
Support the onboarding of new syndicates from a governance perspective and contribute to wider governance initiatives, business planning activity, and continuous improvement projects
What We Are Looking For
Experience gained within the Lloyd’s of London market in an underwriting governance, underwriting operations, controls, risk, or compliance-focused role
Good understanding of governance frameworks, committee processes, controls monitoring, and reporting within a regulated environment
Exposure to underwriting authorities, peer review processes, underwriting exceptions, or delegated authority controls would be advantageous
Strong ability to produce accurate management information, governance reporting, and committee documentation with a high level of attention to detail
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to build credibility across multiple business areas
Strong organisational and analytical capability, comfortable managing competing priorities, reviewing data, identifying trends, and highlighting risks or issues
