Underwriting Governance Analyst
Who we are
Apollo, a Skyward Group company, is an innovation-inspired insurance platform operating at Lloyd’s of London, delivering data-driven and creative solutions across a broad range of risks.
Our name reflects our origins. Inspired by one of our founding investors, Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, the business was built with the same pioneering mindset. Alongside Jim Hays, Neil set out to create a different kind of Lloyd’s platform, focused, agile and built around people.
Since launch in 2009, we have grown into a diversified insurance group offering products across Property, Casualty, Marine, Energy and Transportation, Specialty and Reinsurance, alongside Smart Follow and digital and embedded risk programmes. Our experience and unique ecosystem give Platform Partners the best chance of success, from navigating the Lloyd’s new entrant process through to the delivery of their long-term strategy.
With a team of more than 300 professionals, we continue to grow with purpose, combining underwriting excellence, innovation and collaboration to enable a more resilient and sustainable world.
Your Role
Apollo is looking for an Underwriting Governance Analyst to support the continued growth of its Platform Partner Syndicates (PPS) portfolio.
This role sits at the centre of underwriting governance activity across multiple syndicates, helping to maintain strong governance standards, oversight, controls, and reporting within a fast-evolving and strategically important area of the business. Working closely with underwriting, operations, and wider business stakeholders, you will support committee governance, controls monitoring, management information, and continuous improvement activity across the PPS portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Lloyd’s market experience looking to further develop their underwriting governance, controls, or operational expertise within a collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do
- Support the delivery and ongoing enhancement of Apollo’s underwriting governance framework across the PPS portfolio, helping to drive consistency in governance standards, committee processes, controls monitoring, and reporting
- Coordinate underwriting committees across multiple syndicates, including agenda preparation, meeting packs, minute taking, action tracking, and follow-up activity
- Monitor underwriting controls, identify deficiencies, exceptions, emerging risks, and areas requiring escalation, while supporting the ongoing development of the underwriting control framework
- Produce accurate and timely governance reporting and management information, ensuring activity is delivered within agreed service levels
- Support the maintenance of underwriting authorities, peer review processes, underwriting exceptions reporting, and wider governance documentation and policies
- Build strong relationships across underwriting, operations, and support functions to promote an effective governance culture across the portfolio
- Support the onboarding of new syndicates from a governance perspective and contribute to wider governance initiatives, business planning activity, and continuous improvement projects
What We Are Looking For
- Experience gained within the Lloyd’s of London market in an underwriting governance, underwriting operations, controls, risk, or compliance-focused role
- Good understanding of governance frameworks, committee processes, controls monitoring, and reporting within a regulated environment
- Exposure to underwriting authorities, peer review processes, underwriting exceptions, or delegated authority controls would be advantageous
- Strong ability to produce accurate management information, governance reporting, and committee documentation with a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to build credibility across multiple business areas
- Strong organisational and analytical capability, comfortable managing competing priorities, reviewing data, identifying trends, and highlighting risks or issues
What you’ll get in return
We offer a competitive and thoughtfully designed reward package that reflects the value of our people. This includes a fair and attractive salary, discretionary bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package - including 31 days’ annual leave, a non-contributory pension and private medical insurance.
