Level Scenario Designer

Hamburg

About YouTrain

YouTrain builds a military XR training platform for armed forces, law enforcement, and emergency responders. Our products – DronAR, TrainAR, BrothAR, ShootAR, DrivAR, and MissionAR – combine immersive environments with real equipment, enabling scalable training for drone operations, tactical shooting, emergency driving, and mission planning. Our customers and partners include the Bundeswehr, BWI, the Cyber Innovation Hub, and Quantum Systems. We are an international, fast-growing team headquartered in the heart of Hamburg – made for those who protect us.

The Role

As Level/Scenario Designer you create the training worlds and operational scenarios in which soldiers, drone operators, and emergency responders train. You build realistic environments and exercise flows in Unity, work closely with military subject-matter experts, and make sure every scenario delivers real training value – from terrain design to mission logic.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build realistic training environments and levels in Unity (terrain, buildings, urban spaces, lighting moods).
  • Design training and mission scenarios with objectives, events, enemy/NPC behavior, and scoring logic.
  • Translate requirements from instructors and military subject-matter experts into trainable exercise flows.
  • Work with 3D artists and XR engineers on assets, performance budgets, and interactions.
  • Test, balance, and iterate scenarios based on user feedback.
  • Establish reusable scenario building blocks and design guidelines for content production.

About You

  • 3+ years of experience as a level designer, scenario designer, or game designer with shipped titles or simulations.
  • Solid Unity skills (editor workflows, terrain, ProBuilder, or similar); basic C#/visual scripting knowledge.
  • Strong sense of spatial design, pacing, and learning objectives in training flows.
  • Experience collaborating with subject-matter experts and turning real-world procedures into interactive scenarios.
  • Portfolio with relevant work samples (levels, scenarios, missions) required.
  • Good English; German a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Military background or solid understanding of tactical procedures.
  • Experience with simulation or serious-games projects.
  • Knowledge of world building with GIS/geodata or digital twins of real locations.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful mission: your work improves the operational readiness of those who protect us.
  • Modern office in central Hamburg with a hybrid work model (office & home office).
  • International team with colleagues across Germany, Ukraine, and other locations.
  • Startup environment with real ownership, flat hierarchies, and fast decisions.
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and responsibility.
  • Deutschlandticket and Wellpass (fitness & wellness programs).
  • Top equipment including the latest XR hardware.
  • Individual learning and growth opportunities beyond your role.
