Compliance Manager- People

London, United Kingdom

Are you passionate about upholding ethical standards across people and research practices? We’re looking for a Compliance Manager – People  to help ensure YouGov operates with integrity, transparency, and in line with global regulatory expectations.

In this role, you’ll oversee key compliance areas including our whistleblowing programme, people-related audits, and governance processes—working closely with Legal and HR to embed best practice. It’s a great opportunity for someone who understands the intersection of compliance, employee matters, and research ethics, and wants to make a real impact in a global, fast-moving environment.

This is a hybrid role, requiring at least two days per week in the office. We support your work-life balance with a mix of in-office collaboration and home-based productivity.

Regrettably, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship, so you must be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):

  1. Policy Development and Compliance
    • Develop and update HR policies and procedures to comply with local, national and international labour laws and regulations.
    • Monitor changes in employment laws and recommend necessary adjustments to HR practices.
    • Work with other compliance managers to ensure research standards are upheld at all times.

  1. Compliance Audits and Risk Mitigation
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with legal, ethical and organizational standards.
    • Identify and mitigate risks related to employment practices, workplace safety, and ethical conduct.
    • Work closely with the departments allocated to you on their responsibilities under the company’s risk register.

  1. Whistleblowing
    • Develop and maintain the company’s whistleblowing policies, procedures and systems
    • Put in place appropriate communications and awareness programmes that ensure all staff know how and when to speak up.
    • Track and manage speak up matters that are raised, providing appropriate data and tracking to management and the Board that allow for the company to understand trends and put in place improvements.

  1. Employee Relations and Investigations
    • Work closely with Employment Counsel and HR team to manage compliance-related investigations, including workplace misconduct, discrimination, and harassment claims.
    • Ensure timely resolution and accurate documentation of investigations.

  1. Training and Education
    • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for HR and research staff, managers, and employees.
    • Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct across the organization.

  1. Regulatory Reporting
    • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies.
    • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities for audits and inspections.

  1. Metrics and Reporting
    • Track and analyze compliance metrics to measure program effectiveness.
    • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on compliance risks and initiatives.

These are the essential you will need to get an interview:

  • 3–5 years of experience in employee relations, internal investigations, whistleblowing hotline management, and strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance
  • Proficiency in compliance software tools and HR information systems (HRIS)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

Behavioural competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Proactive and detail-oriented approach to complex challenges
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively across teams

It would be great if you had these too, but we’ll support you if you don’t:

  • Experience in conducting audits, investigations, or compliance training
  • Global experience working across different jurisdictions or regions
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, or CHRC)
