The role
The People Operations Manager is a critical member of the People (HR) team, responsible for executing the People strategy in alignment with organizational objectives. Reporting to the Director People Operations, this role collaborates closely with leadership, senior managers, and employees to provide tactical HR support. This role will be responsible for regional benefits administration, managing onboarding and offboarding to ensure smooth transitions, overseeing payroll, and serve as a compliance partner to uphold labor laws and company policies. This role requires a proactive, data-driven approach to problem-solving and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. This position is key to ensuring a positive employee experience while maintaining operational and regulatory excellence.
Main responsibilities
Payroll Inputs
· Serve as the lead point of contact for payroll inputs, ensuring accurate and timely submission of all employee data (hires, terminations, promotions, compensation changes, overtime, leave, deductions) to payroll providers.
· Validate payroll outputs by auditing data, reconciling discrepancies, and partnering with Finance and payroll vendors to ensure accuracy and compliance.
· Maintain correct setup of employees in payroll systems to reflect state and local jurisdiction rules (tax codes, leave accruals, benefits eligibility).
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations across the U.S., including wage and hour laws, tax withholdings, garnishments, and reporting requirements.
· Conduct regular audits to minimize errors, ensure timely filings, and mitigate compliance risks.
Benefits Administration
· Manage the full employee benefits lifecycle: enrollment, changes, terminations, renewals, and ongoing administration.
· Serve as primary liaison with benefit providers, brokers, and vendors to ensure timely issue resolution and compliance with benefit regulations.
· Administer benefits in compliance with federal and state laws (e.g., ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, state leave programs).
· Provide employees with clear, timely support and guidance on benefit plans, coverage, claims, and eligibility.
· Conduct benefits audits to ensure accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
· Collaborate with Finance to reconcile benefits invoices and manage reporting requirements.
Onboarding & Offboarding
· Oversee end-to-end onboarding, ensuring accurate payroll/benefits setup and a positive employee experience.
· Lead Day 1 orientation, introducing new hires to company culture, policies, benefits, & systems.
· Manage offboarding processes, ensuring compliance with state-mandated timelines for final pay, benefits termination, and access removal.
· Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and identify trends for continuous improvement.
· Partner with IT, Finance, and Workplace teams to ensure smooth operational transitions.
Employee Relations
· Act as a trusted partner to employees and managers in resolving workplace issues with fairness, confidentiality, and compliance in mind.
· Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee performance, conduct, and engagement matters.
· Support investigations into employee concerns, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal standards.
· Track ER cases to identify patterns, propose solutions, and strengthen the overall employee experience.
Compliance
· Ensure adherence to federal and state labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
· Maintain proper state tax registrations, unemployment insurance accounts, and benefit compliance documentation.
· Develop, update, and communicate HR policies in alignment with legal requirements and company standards.
· Conduct compliance audits and provide guidance to managers on policy interpretation.
HR Operations
· Collaborate with COEs in compensation, benefits, and talent acquisition.
· Analyze HR metrics to drive proactive workforce solutions.
· Support additional People Team initiatives as needed.
Qualifications and experience

6+ years of experience in an HR role, preferably within a fast-paced global organization.
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Proven experience in HR within the Americas region, with strong knowledge of benefits administration, local labor laws.
· Strong experience in benefits administration, including knowledge of federal and state benefit regulations (ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA).
· Demonstrated ability to manage payroll and benefits vendor relationships.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
· Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-driven approach.
