About the Role 

Reporting to the Critical Services Manager, the Shift Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of Data Center facilities in a rotation shift pattern to ensure 24/7 coverage. This position involves managing the service provider’s duty team, overseeing facility inspections, analysing system interfaces, and ensuring the accuracy of shift handovers. The Shift Manager will also focus on training, compliance with standard operating procedures, and incident management.

 

Main Responsibilities 

  • Manage the operation and maintenance shift team. Ensure the normal operation of the Data Center facility systems.
  • Quickly respond to customer requests and unexpected events related to system operations.
  • Oversee shift management tasks, including monitoring, inspections, and maintaining accurate operation records and equipment logs.
  • Organize training sessions to keep the team updated on equipment status, ensuring a safe physical environment.
  • Complete facility maintenance tasks with high quality according to the maintenance plan and requirements.
  • Complete other ad hoc tasks assigned by Critical Service Manager in a timely manner.
  • Deliver all tasks for customer’s service level agreement and ensure compliance at all times.
  • Manage the FM service provider and contractors in Root cause Analysis, planning relating to projects and planned maintenance, shift workflows, Incident Management and attendance.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with a Professional Diploma / Degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical or Electrical), BO Chargeman Certification and equivalent is preferred.
  • 3+ years experience as a Data Center Engineering Operations professional with a focus on the safe operation and maintenance standards of Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls systems that exist in mission critical facilities.  This includes knowledge in MV/LV switchgear, UPS, Power Distribution, Chillers, CRAH Units, Generators, ATS, pre-action fire systems, etc. 
  • HV switching experience and has a current HV training certificate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Be a team player and understand the commitment to the processes required within a critical environment facility.
  • Good Leadership & Management skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications and software, including commercial computerized maintenance management systems, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
