About the role:

As a Senior Software Engineer at YLD, you’ll be part of a client team building innovative products. We’re looking for someone curious, passionate, driven, and enthusiastic. You should be skilled in problem-solving and experienced in designing scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant architectures. You’re also an effective communicator and a strong team player. Together with your team, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment, delivering outstanding results and exciting projects.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of DevOps principles, practices, and tooling with proven experience implementing them in complex organisations
  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, particularly Azure services and architecture patterns
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, operations, and best practices, including experience deploying and managing multi-cluster environments
  • Experience running stateful workloads on Kubernetes, including databases and persistent storage solutions
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native principles, patterns, and technologies (12-factor apps, service mesh, GitOps, etc.)
  • Experience establishing and measuring key reliability metrics (SLOs, MTTR, MTTI, Error Budgets)
  • Knowledge of modern CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies (Blue/Green, Canary, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience developing infrastructure-as-code with tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, Terragrunt, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or CDK following GitOps practices
  • Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, compliance requirements, and security compliance frameworks
  • Experience implementing automated testing strategies for infrastructure and deployment pipelines
  • Strong experience coding, working with APIs, and automating tasks in Python
  • Good knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF) and high-availability design patterns
  • Hands-on experience working with virtual cloud firewall appliances such as CheckPoint or Cisco
  • Hands-on experience with software engineering best practices: unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, and excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Good understanding of technology stacks from networks through to applications
  • Strong experience working in a fast-paced, open-source, Linux-focused environment
  • Experience working in an agile methodology; comfortable with code reviews and pairing
  • Ability to adapt, change, and grow quickly as the organisation scales
