We’re a team of curious, talented people, and we’re committed to making YLD a place where great people want to work, grow, and stay. We’re a remote-first consultancy specialising in software engineering, product design, and data. Our teams are based across London, Lisbon, and Porto, and we create digital solutions that continue to deliver value long after our work is done.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Mid/Senior Software Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team and help build innovative, high-impact products. You’ll be curious, passionate, and driven, with a genuine enthusiasm for problem-solving and building scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant systems.

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment, collaborating closely with your team to deliver outstanding results and exciting projects.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will look like this:

  • Build scalable cloud infrastructure: Work with AWS services to create resilient, performant solutions.

  • Automate delivery: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless testing and deployment.

  • Collaborate & innovate: Work closely with your team on engineering initiatives, pushing for continual improvement.

  • Shape engineering practices: Influence team processes, promote best practices, and contribute to the wider department.

  • Showcase your work: Participate in regular demos and presentations to share your achievements across the company.

You’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience as a Python Backend Engineer, with hands-on experience in frameworks and tools such as Django, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and pytest.

  • Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines, including relevant tools and best practices.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and orchestration platforms (e.g., AWS ECS).

  • Knowledge of multiple protocols such as HTTP, GraphQL, and gRPC.

  • Experience with databases (relational and schema-less), including PostgreSQL, Neo4j, and Snowflake.

  • Strong focus on testing and quality, from unit tests to security, customer journey, and accessibility.

  • Building high-performance, scalable applications and familiarity with performance monitoring tools.

You should apply if you are:

  • Self-motivated and proactive, always looking to grow and improve.

  • Excellent communicator, able to explain technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented and analytical, balancing innovation with practical technology choices.

  • Collaborative and team-oriented, thriving in a dynamic environment.

  • A strong advocate for diversity, fairness, and inclusion.

  • Based in Portugal.

As well as the chance to work with a forward-thinking, ethical, and fun group of people, you’ll also get:
