The Senior Visual Designer exists to expand the Creative Lab's capability by providing expertise in visual identity and campaign design. This role drives the conceptualisation and delivery of visually distinctive work, establishes high standards of design craft, and ensures the Creative Lab can meet the growing demand for sophisticated, multi-disciplinary creative solutions across the organisation. 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR?

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in: Visual Communication Design; Graphic Design; Art Direction; Multimedia Design; Fine Arts; Brand Design Or related creative discipline 
  • Award-recognised portfolio and industry distinction strongly valued. Equivalent enterprise-level portfolio experience accepted in lieu of formal education. 
  • Typically 8 - 12+ years of experience in advertising, brand, or creative environments, including:
    • Proven experience developing and executing visual identities, campaigns, publications and communication systems across multiple channels. 
    • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic and conceptual thinking into high-quality visual outcomes. 
    • Experience working across print, editorial, digital, environmental and experiential design applications. 
    • Strong art direction capability, including directing photography, illustration and other visual assets. 
    • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including strategists, writers, marketers and other business stakeholders. 
    • Experience presenting creative concepts and defining design rationale to senior stakeholders. 
    • Previous mentoring or guidance of junior designers and creative contributors is advantageous. 
  • Demonstrated track record of: 
    • Developing distinctive visual identities. 
    • Producing high-quality brand communication work. 
    • Creating visually compelling storytelling across multiple formats and touchpoints. 
    • Elevating design quality through strong craft, typography, layout and visual thinking. 
    • Managing complex design projects from concept through production. 
    • Maintaining consistency and quality across multiple concurrent initiatives. 
  • Advanced experience in: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); Visual storytelling and presentation tools & Campaign rollout systems across digital, retail, motion, and experiential formats
  • Strong working understanding of: Brand systems and visual identity governance; Production processes (print, digital, motion, retail environments) & Creative workflow management tools
  • Optional but beneficial: Motion design or creative direction experience.   

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?

  • Design & deliver high-quality visual communication solutions across brandcampaign and strategic projects to strengthen brand impact. 
  • Translate complex business challenges into impactful visual communication solutions by leveraging strategic thinking, design craft and brand expertise across multiple channels and mediums, so that stakeholders are engaged and organisational objectives are achieved. 
  • Deliver creative projects within agreed timelines, scope and quality standards by effectively planning, prioritising and managing design activities. 
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with business units, principal design leads, writers, designers and key stakeholders by collaborating proactively, communicating design rationale clearly and presenting creative recommendations with confidence and professionalism. 
  • Shape the creative direction of key initiatives by introducing innovative visual approaches, design trends and evolving creative methodologies in order to continuously elevate the quality and impact of the Creative Lab.

  • Have a deep understanding and expertise in visual communication, brand identity systems, typography, layout and design principles. 
  • Strong conceptual thinking and creative problem-solving abilities. 
  • Understands how design contributes to business objectives, brand equity and audience engagement. 
  • Builds strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder groups.
