Wunderflats is on a mission to transform the European mid-term rental market. We're tackling the challenge of creating a truly seamless booking experience, aiming to move from a several-step process to 1-click online rentals, and disrupting traditional classifieds across the continent. We're growing rapidly and need a Technical Team Lead to help us scale our platform to handle millions of users.

We are looking for a Technical Team Lead who is motivated to lead change and innovation during this current pivotal change for Wunderflats.

Core Responsibilities

  • Empower a team of 4-6 engineers to excel, fostering a culture of psychological safety, continuous learning, and relentless improvement. Mentor team members to reach their full potential, pushing them beyond their comfort zones while providing the support they need to succeed.
  • Own the technical vision and roadmap for your team, driving innovation and ensuring alignment with business objectives and architectural best practices.
  • Champion code quality, testing, and automation, proactively identifying and resolving technical debt.
  • Collaborate with the team’s product manager, designer, QA Analyst, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into innovative technical solutions.
  • Spearhead the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve team efficiency and product capabilities.

Must-Have Skills

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying scalable, cloud-native applications using Node.js, React, and Typescript on Kubernetes. Deep understanding of GraphQL API design, microservices architecture, and MongoDB.
  • 1+ years of proven experience directly managing and mentoring a team of software engineers, including performance reviews, coaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong architectural skills, with experience designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and secure systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with high-volume transaction processing and fraud prevention in an e-commerce or marketplace setting.
  • Experience with GCP.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Cloudflare.
  • Experience with A/B testing and data-driven decision-making.
