Com4 is a leading global service provider in the Internet of Things (IoT), also known as Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication. We offer global connectivity and mobile data tailored to our customers' applications in their connected devices and equipment. Com4 is a significant player in the Norwegian telecom market, holding a 50% market share within the IoT segment. We also boast a global customer portfolio. Through extensive roaming agreements, we provide 2G/3G/4G/5G IoT communication across 700 networks worldwide.
As a leading IoT Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), Com4 operates a state-of-the-art 5G SA-capable mobile core network featuring all relevant network functions. This runs on our container-based private cloud platform in Norway. Our mobile core network is developed and operated in-house by our dedicated DevOps team, with support from our vendor, Nokia.
About the role:
We are currently seeking a local mobile core engineer to work full-time position from our offices in Oslo, Norway, with good proficiency in Norwegian or other Scandinavian languages.
As a Mobile Core Engineer, you will play a central and expert role in an implementation project, as well as in the operation and evolution of our network. Your mission will be to ensure stable operations and drive innovative services. You'll be part of a strong, highly skilled team, where you'll take primary responsibility for specific functions while also supporting colleagues with other areas.
We're looking for someone with the expertise and drive to ensure our IoT mobile core remains globally leading. We will consider both experienced candidates and juniors with less experience, and can adapt tasks and responsibilities to align with your profile.
To succeed, you'll be a mobile core expert, working closely with our talented technical specialists in container platforms, IP networks, IT, BSS/OSS, and customer support. We're seeking a solution-oriented individual who isn't afraid to tackle complex challenges. We highly value strong collaboration and communication skills, alongside the ability to work independently and proactively within your domain.
Depending on proficiency level you will have main responsibility for some functions, and supporting responsibility for other functions.
To further strengthen our technical team, we are looking for a Mobile Core Engineer with competence and experience in some of the following areas:
- Mobile Core network architecture (3GPP releases/GSMA/IETF standards)
- Mobile Network functions across different technologies - 5G SA/NSA and 4G EPC
- Interfaces with adjacent systems in a mobile operator environment
- Operations and development of core network nodes such as UPF/PGW/GGSN, SDM/HSS/HLR, PCF/PCRF/SPR
- Operations and development of signaling functions such as DRA/STP/SEPP
- Operations and development of container platforms for Network Functions (NCFs) - Nokia Cloud Platform or other RedHat Openshift Container Platforms
- Technical vendor management, including feature requirements specification and follow-up
- Familiarity with protocols like Diameter, Radius, and HTTP
- Knowledge of APIs and subscriber databases is a plus
- IoT experience is beneficial but not required
- Good general IT competence, such as basic IT system operations, scripting, IT development, and automation tools, is a plus
- Experience in virtualization and Kubernetes is a plus
- Competence in networking such as IP, FW, and VPN is a plus
