Backend Engineer

VYBS is the fastest-growing loyalty platform in mobile gaming, a $100B+ market with over 3 billion players. Millions of players use our app to discover games and get rewarded for playing them, and hundreds of game studios use us to reach their most valuable players.

The role. You'll own the backend that runs VYBS: the services that decide what offers players see, track their progress in games, pay out rewards, and handle every dollar advertisers spend. You'll design the architecture, set the standards, decide what ships, and build the agentic factory that implements it.

• The backend is the core of the product. It drives both the player experience and company revenue, so what you ship matters directly.
• Short feedback loops. We have a large, active player base, so most changes show up in the data within days.
• Real technical depth. The work includes real-time decisions under tight latency limits, high-volume event processing, AI models in production, and integrating with the largest brands in the industry.
• You build the system that builds the software. Instead of boilerplate, your time goes to system design, trade-offs, and the AI engineering system itself. This is where software engineering is heading, and you'll be doing it now.
• Ownership. R&D is a small, senior team with light process, and engineers have a real say in architecture.

What you'll do

• Design and own backend services, with AI agents doing the implementation.
• Improve the agents' tooling, context, skills and guardrails so what they build is ready for production.
• Make the architecture calls that keep the system reliable, performant and cheap to run as we grow.
• Work with product and data science to turn ideas into production systems quickly.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering, including systems you built and ran in production.
• Strong system design and distributed-systems fundamentals. You know what good looks like and can spot what's wrong in code you didn't write.
• Strong in a statically typed language: Go, Java, Scala, C#, Rust or similar.
• Advantage: experience building agentic software factories, meaning setups where AI agents take work from spec through implementation to review.
• Advantage: experience in adtech, gaming or high-traffic B2C.
