Role Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Product Support Engineer to join our Group Aftersales Technical Team. This contract-based role plays a key part in supporting the technical capability and service quality of our national retailer network. Working across all Group brands, the successful candidate will deliver hands-on technical support and diagnostic guidance to ensure service excellence and customer satisfaction.

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team at the heart of the Volkswagen Group Ireland aftersales operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality technical support and root cause analysis for complex vehicle concerns across all Volkswagen Group brands, using approved diagnostic platforms (e.g., DISS, ODIS), remote access tools, and in-person dealer visits where required
  • Mentor and develop retailer workshop staff in diagnostic skills, high-voltage (HV) battery handling, and group repair standards
  • Represent VGIE at factory-led technical briefings, sharing key updates with the Irish network
  • Deliver technical input and lead discussions during Service Dialogue meetings and quality reviews
  • Collaborate with brand technical teams, training managers, and warranty colleagues to address trends and escalated issues
  • Support technical investigations and assist with field inspections when required

 

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • National Craft Certificate in Motor Mechanics and qualifications in automotive engineering, diagnostics, or electrical systems
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a technical automotive role with advanced diagnostic exposure
  • Strong ability to resolve technical problems independently and communicate solutions clearly
  • Skilled at delivering coaching and guidance in workshop environments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with sound digital literacy
  • Full, clean EU driving licence
  • A proactive and adaptable team player who can work independently across a field-based remit

 

Desirable:

  • Master Technician/High Voltage Expert (EV) qualification
  • Working knowledge of Volkswagen Group platforms such as ODIS, DISS &, Elsa
  • Experience in technical coaching, auditing, or retailer support roles
