
Financial Accountant
Position: Permanent
Position Overview
The Financial Accountant is responsible for full ownership of financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance across assigned entities in various countries. This role operates with a high degree of independence and plays a critical role in ensuring reporting accuracy, audit readiness, and financial integrity.
This is a high-performing Financial Accountant role suited to an individual who not only delivers accurate reporting but also provides meaningful financial insights, drives process improvements, and partners effectively with stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Own end-to-end financial reporting for assigned entities or business units
- Deliver accurate, complete, and timely monthly reporting
- Perform in-depth variance analysis and proactively highlight risks and opportunities
- Provide clear financial insights to support commercial and operational decision-making
Reconciliations & Balance Sheet Ownership
- Take full ownership of balance sheet integrity across multiple or complex accounts
- Ensure all variances are clearly explained, supported, and resolved timeously
- Deliver audit-ready reconciliations with strong supporting documentation
Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Own compliance submissions across entities with no errors or penalties
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and local regulatory requirements
- Liaise with auditors and external advisors where required
Month-End & Year-End Close
- Execute accurate and timely month-end close, including journals and accruals
- Ensure completeness and integrity of all reporting components
- Support year-end processes and contribute to improving close efficiency
Business Partnering & Commercial Insight
- Act as a trusted finance partner to operational and commercial stakeholders
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking
Systems & Digital Finance
- Utilise financial systems and tools to streamline reporting and workflows
Technical & Functional Skills
- Advanced financial reporting and analytical capability
- Strong reconciliation ownership across complex accounts
- Solid understanding of multi-entity compliance and regulatory environments
- Proven ability to manage full month-end processes independently
- Strong business partnering and stakeholder engagement skills
- High proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel
- Process improvement and automation mindset
Required Skills & Experience
- Qualified CA(SA) (SAICA) or Professional Accountant (SAIPA)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
- 4–6 years’ experience in a Financial Accounting role
- Proven experience owning reporting across entities or complex business units
- Strong experience in reconciliations, compliance, and audit support
- Experience in a multi-entity or international environment highly advantageous
- Experience with financial/ERP systems
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability
Advantageous
- Experience using Sage X3
- Experience working in a fast-paced, global organisation
- Exposure to audit management and external stakeholder engagement
- Demonstrated process improvement or automation initiatives
