About the Role
As a Veeam Backup for Linux Engineer, you will serve as a critical technical expert within our Technical Customer Support “hotline,” delivering high-impact, one-on-one support to customers running Linux and modern hypervisor-based environments. You’ll work closely with customers, internal support teams, and R&D stakeholders to troubleshoot complex issues, provide deep technical analysis, and ensure an exceptional customer experience while contributing valuable feedback that helps improve our rapidly evolving Linux Agents product line.
What You’ll Do
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and log file analysis across Linux and hypervisor-based backup environments
- Take full ownership of customer issues from case creation through resolution
- Investigate issues across Veeam, Linux OS, and virtualization platforms
- Determine whether issues are caused by defects, misconfiguration, or environmental factors and apply break/fix solutions
- Educate customers by clearly explaining root causes, system behavior, and best practices
- Act as a technical focal point in discussions with IT professionals and enterprise customers
- Accurately document all customer interactions and technical findings within SLA in our CRM system
- Provide feedback to R&D and QA teams to improve product quality and customer experience
Technologies You’ll Work With
Linux OS, TCP/IP Networking, Hypervisors and Virtualization Platforms (KVM-based and similar), Nutanix AHV, Proxmox, OLVM, Scale Computing Hypercore, Linux HPE VM Essentials, VMware, Hyper-V, REST APIs, Filesystems, Storage Management, Kernel Modules, OS Monitoring Tools, CRM systems
What You’ll Bring
- 2+ years of experience in System Administration or Technical Support roles
- Strong knowledge of Linux-based operating systems (boot process, initialization systems, package management, kernel modules, process management, monitoring, filesystems, storage, networking)
- Hands-on experience working with hypervisors or virtualization platforms in Linux environments (KVM-based or similar)
- Experience troubleshooting infrastructure across Linux and virtualized environments
- Strong TCP/IP networking knowledge
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services on Linux
- Fluent English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, SLA-driven environment with strong ownership mentality
Bonus Skills
- Experience with Nutanix AHV, Proxmox, OLVM, Scale Computing Hypercore, Linux HPE VM Essentials
- Experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V
- Familiarity with REST APIs and multi-platform infrastructure troubleshooting
