System Analyst, Data Engineering

Veeam is seeking a System Analyst to join our internal and international data team. You’ll be part of the team building out the next generation of data infrastructure and systems to power Veeam’s Machine Learning and Data Science capabilities. You will gather and translate requirements, document complex data flows, and help drive operational excellence for our data management systems and processes.
Your tasks will include:
Requirements & Solution Analysis
- Conduct workshops with business stakeholders to capture functional and non-functional needs for engineering and analytics teams
- Research data sources and systems as needed to provide technical requirements
- Translate requirements (e.g., product telemetry insights, renewal forecasting) into detailed technical requirements for ongoing projects
Architecture & Documentation
- Maintain up-to-date system architecture diagrams, data-lineage maps, and data-dictionary entries
- Champion documentation standards and ensure documentation is available and up to date for existing systems
Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Track opportunities to improve documentation and test coverage for the respective engineering teams
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Develop project plans, manage dependencies, and communicate status, risks, and mitigations to leadership
- Promote task management and delivery best practices
What we expect from you:
- 3+ years as a System Analyst, Business Analyst, or Technical Product Owner in data-centric environments
- Strong grasp of data engineering and analytics systems
- Excellent written documentation skills and the ability to create clear diagrams (UML, BPMN, Data-flow)
- Knowledge of SQL or Python for data exploration and system research
- Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and DevOps pipelines
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities
- Ability to travel occasionally (once per quarter) with the E.U. or to the U.S. for team meetings or conferences
Will be an advantage:
- System knowledge of Azure, Databricks, Tableau, or Salesforce
- Experience in enterprise software or SaaS—especially data protection, cloud, or cybersecurity domains
- Exposure to data-governance tooling (Atlan, Collibra) and metadata management
- Understanding of GDPR, SOX, and similar legal framework requirements
