Overview

Come join Veeam - the world leader in data protection, backup & recovery! We seek a senior technical consultant to engage and advise customers on their cybersecurity and data protection strategies and tactics. This role will play a critical function in advising customers in security best practices as well as showcasing Veeam’s strengths in helping customers prevent any business disruption in the event of a cybersecurity attack.

  1. The APJ Security Principal Consultant will report to the VP of Systems Engineering, APJ and is accountable for engaging customer CISOs/CIOs and their team of security specialists in top opportunities to win the security decision,
  2. being the regional subject matter expert on cybersecurity practices, conducting security table top exercises and security workshops focusing on containment, eradication and recovery, just to name a few examples, including leveraging on Veeam’s 360 data resilience capabilities
  3. being the subject matter expert in advising customers on their security posture, presenting NIST, TTP and Mitre ATTACK framework with Veeam’s exciting Cyber Secure program, and validating the customer’s current capabilities, gaps and risks,
  4. partnering with product marketing to outline customer- and partner-facing best-practices and playbooks, and lastly,
  5. working with Veeam’s engineering organization on customer security and ransomware prevention requirements.

This role will be customer-facing and quota carrying.

About the Role:

Veeam’s Strategic Advisory Services team assists our customers with a wide array of proactive engagements to help enhance security programs, educate employees, and develop tailored cyber initiatives. The Principal Consultant role is the leader on the ground. This role serves as the primary day-to-day lead for Strategic engagements, interacting with client leadership and ensuring customer has the highest standard of security posture achieved. Principal Consultants also assist in internal enablement to upskill our own sales team on security knowledge and skillset, creating and conducting customer-facing security workshops and programs, engaging in opportunities to influence customer security teams with Veeam security-first approach for data resiliency.

This role will join top customer pursuit teams to help win the customer’s security and technical decision to select Veeam for their data protection needs. This role will be the regional cyber security expert and be engaged in the largest, most complicated customer scenarios. The role will complement the existing technical pre-sales organization to be the L400 technical resource on cybersecurity. The role will partner with the Account Executive and the Solution Consultant / Engineer to present Veeam’s point of view on security as well as assess opportunities for the customer to improve security standards.

In addition to engaging with customers, this role will be responsible to collaborate with Veeam’s product marketing and competitive intelligence teams to produce enhanced playbooks to win the security discussion as well as Veeam’s response to competitor value props. This role will likely engage and present at Veeam customer and partner events to articulate learnings and best practices in cyber security, data protection and recovery.

Finally, this role will regularly engage with Veeam product management and engineering to provide the voice of the customer perspective on security capabilities and needs that will accelerate sales.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead large and complex strategic advisory service engagements, engaging with executive-level individuals across a wide range of industry segments.
  • Assess and develop cybersecurity and incident response programs in a proactive fashion to help mature the security posture of organizations prior to an incident.
  • Develop cutting-edge scenarios to help customers exercise the full range of their response capabilities.
  • Produce and ensure delivery of high-quality written and verbal reports, presentations, recommendations, and findings to customer management.
  • Demonstrate industry thought leadership through blog posts and public speaking events.
  • Identify and address emerging trends in cybersecurity, drawing on both government and private sector perspectives.
  • Manage internal programs and teams.
  • Engage in some degree of sales and business development opportunities.
  • Support staffing and scheduling of strategic resources on upcoming engagements.

What You'll Need:

 Successful candidates will have at least 8-15 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • IT / Security Management Consulting: you’ve held leadership positions and owned relationships with organizational executives as a management or technical consultant. You’ve worked on a range of infosec and IT issues, including both technical cyber security (applying controls, improving architectures, etc.) and operational cyber security (organizational alignment, cyber policy review, etc.)
  • Security Program Development: you’ve personally contributed to the development, management, and implementation of a security program, helping organization build, enhance, or recalibrate their plans for a successful future-leaning security program. This may include aspects of developing a SOC, CSIRT, Fusion Center, or several security initiatives that support a centralized security function.
  • Security Analysis / Operations: you’ve held leadership or key delivery positions in organizations or on teams that focus on organizational security (such as SOCs, IR teams, etc.). You understand cybersecurity from a practitioner standpoint, and importantly, you also understand how to consolidate and communicate results to senior leaders.
  • Business Strategy / Risk Analysis: you’ve helped businesses address a range of risks, including cyber risks, across their organization. You’re familiar with how organizational risk frameworks are developed, and you have experience helping organizations improve and apply their risk frameworks to address cyber risks.
  • Cybersecurity Policy: you’ve been responsible for developing new policies or enhancing existing policies that inform how private or government organization performs and manages its various cyber security activities. You have played a key role in developing policies, plans, and/or playbooks focusing on cyber security activities, and have ideally been part of the process of transitioning these plans into practice within an organization.
  • Public / Government Affairs: you have significant experience helping government organizations, or entities that work closely with governments, refine cyber security priorities and communicate clearly about these priorities. You are highly experienced in working across diverse sets of technical and non-technical stakeholders in an organization to develop defensible, actionable priorities and plans for improving cyber security.

 Additionally, all candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, specifically in fast-paced professional environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of customers and team members.
  • Capable of completing complex tasks involving strategic analysis and development, without supervision.
  • Desire to grow and expand cyber aptitude, technical awareness, and soft skills.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Consistent positive work environment and attitude.
  • Ability to travel to engage with clients, up to 70% of the time, often on less than three weeks’ notice.

Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with the right combination of training and skills to join our team. Successful candidates coming from an academic background will likely have a BA or BS degree, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Information Security, Information Assurance, Management Information Security, Cybersecurity, Cybersecurity Policy, Public Policy, Intelligence Studies, or a related field.

Certifications in Information Security, e.g., GSEC, GISP, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, or other security relevant accreditations.

Ability to hold business-level discussions in English, and Mandarin or Japanese a plus.
