THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Head of Data to architect and lead the data function from the ground up. This is a newly created role in a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment, where data is central to unlocking operational efficiency, commercial insight, and strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will be responsible for building the data warehouse, integrating strategic data sources, and delivering high-impact dashboards and analytics to senior leadership. They must be confident operating in a high-pressure, fast-evolving environment and capable of influencing senior stakeholders across the business.

Whilst the successful candidate needs to be a natural self-starter, it is also important that the candidate can work as part of a team across a range of disciplines. They'll need to be articulate, curious, proactive and thrive in a fast-paced environment across a range of projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Immediate Priorities 

  • Build and deploy a centralised data warehouse using Microsoft Fabric, integrating key systems including Deltek (Workbook, Maconomy), TM1/PA, Sage, ATS, Thrive, Smartsheet, Hubspot, and others
  • Develop and implement management dashboards for global leaders, agency heads, and account managers to enable proactive decision-making and performance tracking
  • Establish data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure timely, accurate, and secure data flow across platforms

Strategic Leadership 

  • Define and execute a scalable data strategy aligned with business goals and PE value creation plans
  • Build and lead a lean but high-performing data team of 5 people, fostering a culture of ownership, agility, and innovation
  • Act as a data evangelist across the organisation, promoting data literacy and embedding data-driven thinking into core processes

 Data Governance & Architecture 

  • Design and implement robust data architecture and governance frameworks
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and internal security standards
  • Maintain high standards of data quality, lineage, and accessibility, analytics & Business Intelligence 
  • Deliver actionable insights through advanced analytics, reporting, and visualisation tools
  • Partner with commercial, finance, and operational teams to identify and solve business challenges using data
  • Support PE sponsors with KPI tracking, board reporting, and portfolio-level analytics

ROLE SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Proven experience in building data functions from scratch, ideally within PE-backed or high-growth businesses 
  • Strong technical expertise in data warehousing, integration, and analytics (MS Fabric experience preferred)
  • Comfortable working with a wide range of data sources and business systems
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to influence and challenge at senior levels
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and delivery

Desirable Experience: 

  • Sector experience in advertising, media, or technology
  • Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, dbt, Snowflake, Python/R, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
  • Experience with financial modelling, forecasting, and operational analytics
