Operations Shift Lead (Remote Driving Technology)
Ever imagined saying, “I helped launch the future of transportation”?
We’re rewriting the rules of urban mobility. At Vay, customers tap a button and a car arrives - with no one inside - powered by our world-first Remote Driving technology on real public streets.
We’re live in Las Vegas and scaling fast, powered by a strategic investment of up to $410 million from Grab. - We've partnered with Kodiak to bring remote-driving technology to autonomous trucks in the US, showcasing our ability to integrate our system into heavy-duty commercial vehicles and expand the applications of our tech across the US.
- We’ve completed 10’s of thousands of trips so far and are busy multiplying our Las Vegas fleet just to meet demand!
- ...And soon we’ll be expanding across the US & Europe 🚀
Why this role is exciting
Operations Shift Lead
This is a critical frontline leadership role at the heart of our Las Vegas operation. As Shift Lead, you’ll be the central point of coordination during your shift, making sure our commercial delivery service runs smoothly, our fleet stays ready, and our teams have what they need to execute at a high level. You’ll play a direct role in keeping service levels strong, removing operational bottlenecks in real time, and creating the structure, accountability, and energy that help every shift perform.
What you’ll be driving
In this role, you’ll oversee shift execution end to end, balancing people, vehicles, customer needs, and operational priorities in a fast-moving environment. You’ll work closely with Remote Drivers, Field Support Agents, Customer Care, and Operations Management to keep the service running safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption.
-
Lead day-to-day shift execution, acting as the first point of contact for Remote Drivers, Field Support Agents, stakeholders, and management during assigned hours.
-
Build, adjust, and monitor shift plans to ensure strong staffing coverage, contingency planning, and fair workload distribution across daily operations.
-
Assign and coordinate tasks across the team, including charging, rebalancing, cleaning, and fleet readiness activities, based on real-time operational priorities.
-
Ensure vehicles, equipment, communication systems, and operational resources are available, functioning, and ready to support commercial service throughout the shift.
-
Drive performance against key operational KPIs including fleet readiness, availability, response times, ride acceptance, customer support, and overall shift efficiency.
-
Monitor operational roadblocks, make real-time decisions under pressure, escalate issues when needed, and proactively solve problems to minimize disruption.
-
Support a strong safety culture by maintaining awareness across the shift, assessing team wellbeing and capacity, and following escalation processes in line with operational guidelines.
-
Complete and submit end-of-shift reporting, highlighting performance, shortfalls, challenges, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
What are we looking for
We’re looking for someone who knows how to keep operations moving when things get busy, messy, or unpredictable. You’re organized, calm under pressure, highly accountable, and not afraid to step in and make decisions that improve outcomes for the team, the customer, and the business.
-
Based in Las Vegas, USA, and able to work in the office for all working hours.
-
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
-
Experience leading or supervising teams working across shifts in a fast-paced operational environment.
-
Strong customer-facing communication skills, including confidence handling phone-based support when needed.
-
Proven ability to prioritize, stay organized, and manage multiple moving parts with a high level of detail and ownership.
-
Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment under pressure, with a hands-on and solutions-driven mindset.
-
Experience in mobility, fleet management, technology, or other operationally intensive environments.
-
Collaborative, proactive, and resourceful, with strong written and verbal communication skills across frontline teams and management.
Nice to have
-
Experience as a frontline people manager.
-
Experience training or coaching team members.
-
Experience supporting scaling operations, fleet expansion, or new site launches.
