Safety Driver

Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

Ever wanted to tell people, “Yeah, I helped launch the future of transportation”? Well, here’s your shot. At Vay, we’re flipping the script on mobility with Remote driving—delivering cars to customers with zero hassle and zero driver inside, offering a unique by the minute car rental service. We’re already live in Las Vegas, and trust us, we’re just getting started.

Our journey so far since our launch in 2018:

Revolutionary remote driving tech- We built the world’s first commercial remote driving product.

Breaking boundaries across continents- First to roll out vehicles in both Europe and the USA on public roads without a human being inside & one of only two companies in the States operating a commercial driverless service.

Vegas fleet on the rise- Our vehicle fleet is scaling fast, from 20 to 100 cars in Las Vegas. We’re just getting started!

We are seeking a highly responsible and safety-focused Safety Driver to join our Vay team in Las Vegas (NV). This is a safety-critical role with a strong emphasis on protecting the well-being of our remote driver trainees and all other traffic participants.

As a Safety Driver, you will play a key role in supporting our Remote Driver Academy, ensuring that all driving activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with our operating standards. What you'll be driving:

  • Act as Safety Driver during remote driver training activities within the Remote Driver Academy.
  • Execute mapping drives to extend and adapt our ODD within the Las Vegas area and potentially other U.S. cities in the future.
  • Perform engineering test requests on private grounds and public roads to verify and validate the remote driving system at the vehicle level.
  • Support engineering activities focused on connectivity performance testing on public streets.
  • Communicate clearly with engineers and remote drivers to report findings, incidents, or potential safety concerns.
  • Conduct pre- and post-drive inspections to ensure vehicle readiness and operational safety.
  • Follow established test plans and procedures with high attention to detail and accountability

What are we looking for:

  • 2+ years of professional driving experience in safety-critical or testing environments.
  • Strong safety mindset and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record (5+ years driving experience preferred).
  • Comfortable with technology, connected systems, and vehicle testing procedures.
  • Excellent communication and situational awareness skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with engineers and trainees.
