We are proud of:

The role

We are looking for a Business Analyst (Data) to join the delivery squad building a Loyalty Revenue Accounting solution on Databricks. The solution takes data from the Loyalty platform and other source systems and produces the accounting outputs Finance needs, including journals and reports. You will define the data requirements, business logic and mapping rules that the data engineers build from, and keep them current as requirements evolve.

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • A curious problem solver who challenges the status quo
  • A collaborator who values teamwork and knowledge-sharing
  • Excited by the intersection of technology, finance and data
  • Experienced in Agile methodologies and consulting (a plus)

Role responsibilities

  • Define and document data requirements for a data platform solution, working closely with Product Teams from Finance, Loyalty and architecture stakeholders
  • Define business logic in precise, testable terms, including calculations, allocations and rules for how transactions are treated
  • Produce source-to-target mapping specifications, covering field-level mappings, transformations and reference data
  • Write clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria in Jira, with enough detail for engineers to build from and testers to validate against
  • Maintain traceability from business need through requirements to mappings and design, and keep documentation up to date as requirements change
  • Identify gaps, edge cases and anomalies early, and raise them with options and impact
  • Work with the product manager, data engineers, architects and QE through delivery, answering questions and validating what is built against the requirements
  • Support walkthroughs and sign-off with Finance and other business stakeholders

Must have qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst on data-focused projects, such as data platforms, data warehouses or data migration – a must
  • Experience defining both business logic and data mapping logic, not only high-level process requirements – a must
  • Strong written requirements skills, including writing and managing requirements in Jira
  • Ability to read and reason about data structures, tables and fields, with working knowledge of SQL
  • Strong communication skills, able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in an agile delivery team where requirements iterate

Nice to have qualifications

  • Experience with Databricks or a similar cloud data platform
  • Experience in finance, revenue accounting or accounting journals
  • Experience with loyalty, airline or travel data
  • Familiarity with event-driven or streaming data sources

If you do not meet all the listed qualifications or have gaps in your experience, we still encourage you to apply. At Valtech, we recognize that talent comes in many forms, and we value diverse perspectives and a willingness to learn.
