Lead Product Manager

Manchester

Why Valtech? We’re the experience innovation company - a trusted partner to the world’s most recognized brands. To our people we offer growth opportunities, a values-driven culture, international careers and the chance to shape the future of experience.

The opportunity

At Valtech, you’ll find an environment designed for continuous learning, meaningful impact, and professional growth. Whether you're pioneering new digital solutions, challenging conventional thinking or building the next generation of customer experiences, your work will help transform industries

The Role:

As a Lead Product Manager, you are a seasoned product leader who is passionate about experience innovation and eager to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You bring the experience and credibility to lead our most complex, ambiguous work, and to shape the direction of our wider Product practice.

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • A confident, strategic problem solver who challenges the status quo and shapes direction for others
  • A collaborative leader who values teamwork, mentorship and knowledge-sharing
  • Excited by the intersection of technology, creativity and data
  • Experienced in Agile methodologies, consulting and stakeholder leadership
  • A confident user of AI tools and technologies, who champions how AI can improve product management practice and outcomes for clients and users

Role Responsibilities:

Valtech are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, entrepreneurial and dedicated Lead Product Manager to join our team. This role comprises leadership across our most complex and ambiguous agile projects and programmes, often spanning multiple teams and disciplines. Our Product Managers work with our expert in-house teams of developers, designers and testing engineers to deliver innovative, high-quality products.

Product Managers at Valtech work at the intersection of disciplines, to create products that unlock value for users and capture value for clients. We work across the full lifecycle of a product, from hypothesis and execution, to growth and optimisation.

As a Lead Product Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our teams are building the right thing; products that meet business objectives, deliver value to users and have a strong, commercially viable business case. You’ll work in close collaboration with designers, engineers, strategists, delivery leads and partner with senior and C-suite client stakeholders to define the product and service strategy, clarify priorities, validate hypotheses, align around measures of success, and more, to go from idea to successful implementation.

Our Lead Product Managers take on our most complex projects and typically work in a product leadership role within a programme team, guiding other Product Managers as well as the wider delivery team. You'll be actively involved in commercial activities, playing a leading role in pitching, proposals and business development. You'll play a pivotal role in defining our practice strategy, improving our craft and capabilities, and coaching colleagues to support their learning and development. You'll also lead by example in how we use AI: embedding it into your own day-to-day practice as a Product Manager, championing better ways of using AI across your team, and helping design and deploy AI-powered products and capabilities with our clients and their users.

Must have qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Passionate about creating world-class digital products and services
  • A track record of planning and delivering successful end-to-end products and services, with a demonstrable history of results and the impact they’ve made
  • Experience working closely with, and influencing, senior and C-suite level stakeholders
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and clients
  • Have a “test and learn” mentality, and show a desire to constantly improve their skills
  • Balancing different, and often competing, senior stakeholder needs and priorities to drive work forward
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and switching between big picture and individual workstreams depending on the focus needed
  • Experienced in using AI tools and technologies in your day-to-day practice as a Product Manager, and confident championing AI-enabled ways of working across your team
  • Experience building and deploying AI-powered products or capabilities with organisations and their users
  • Experience building your own tools, scripts or workflows that extend AI capabilities beyond a standard chat interface

Nice to have qualifications:

  • A breadth and depth of experience across the full product/service lifecycle, from discovery and strategy, to product build, run and optimisation, preferably in the Commerce domain.
  • A depth of experience in at least one part of the product lifecycle, or an industry
  • Experience selling work or gaining investment for product ideas
  • Experience leading teams in large scale, ambiguous, or otherwise challenging environments
  • Experience coaching and turning underperforming teams into high-performing agile teams
  • Ability to zoom out, see the bigger picture and breakdown silos. To understand complex systems and identify points of leverage.
  • Experience mentoring or line managing other Product Managers

If you do not meet all the listed qualifications or have gaps in your experience, we still encourage you to apply. At Valtech, we recognize that talent comes in many forms, and we value diverse perspectives and a willingness to learn.
