Sr. Delivery Lead
Why Valtech? We’re the experience innovation company - a trusted partner to the world’s most recognized brands. To our people we offer growth opportunities, a values-driven culture, international careers and the chance to shape the future of experience.
The opportunity
At Valtech, you’ll find an environment designed for continuous learning, meaningful impact, and professional growth. Whether you're pioneering new digital solutions, challenging conventional thinking or building the next generation of customer experiences, your work will help transform industries.
We are proud of:
- The work we do and the innovation we drive
- Our values of share, care and dare
- A workplace culture that fosters creativity, diversity and autonomy
- Our borderless, global framework, which enables seamless collaboration
The role
As Senior Delivery Lead, you'll be at the heart of the team's delivery process, responsible for facilitating and optimising the entire lifecycle – from ideation to implementation and continuous optimisation. You'll work closely with internal executives, senior stakeholders, business users, and cross-functional teams to gather and document requirements, and drive solution design in close partnership with Product Ownership and Technical Leadership.
Role responsibilities
- Strategic Project Management: Manage Data Warehouse and PBI platform projects from Discovery, through Design and Build to Optimisation, with a focus on best practices within our hybrid agile framework (Scrum & Kanban).
- Team Development & Coaching: Actively build and develop high-performing product teams, including their establishment, ongoing development, and coaching the team in agile methodologies, cross-functionality, and self-organisation. This includes guiding them in optimising flow and limiting Work In Progress (WIP).
- Facilitation & Optimisation: Facilitate all necessary team meetings (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews/retrospectives, Kanban cadences, etc.) and ensure effective backlog refinement. You'll also facilitate agile release planning and assist the Product Owner in managing the release backlog, ensuring visibility and smooth flow of work.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as an expert in the platform's functional use, understand Data & Analytics platforms in depth, and leverage your knowledge to drive user experience. You'll lead system demonstrations and training for all stakeholders and users, and build roadmaps as well as advise stakeholders on future strategies and execution.
- Risk Management & Problem Solving: Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate project issues and risks, with an emphasis on identifying bottlenecks and improving throughput.
- Agile Advocate: Be the coach and overall advocate for our hybrid agile delivery methodology among the project team and stakeholders, influencing software development lifecycles (plan, design, development, testing, and deployment) in collaboration with both business and technology teams.
- Mentor & Supporter: Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to defining and prioritising the product backlog, ensuring a well-groomed and prioritised flow of work.
- Transparency & Results: Ensure transparency into the team’s work through the Sprint Backlog, Burndown Chart, Kanban boards, cumulative flow diagrams, and other Agile metrics. You'll lead by example – knowing when and how to push for more results, and proactively identifying and removing impediments that interfere with the team’s ability to deliver Sprint commitments and maintain flow.
Must have qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in a senior delivery lead or similar role within software development, specifically within a hybrid agile (Scrum/Kanban) or pure Kanban/Scrum environment. Experience with product development is a strong plus.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience with Data & Analytics solutions, including an understanding of data projects, data warehouses, and BI reporting solutions (e.g., Power BI).
- Proven experience in building and developing high-performing product teams, with an understanding of optimising team dynamics and workflow in both sprint-based and flow-based systems.
- Experience leading global, distributed agile teams of 10+ engineers, with responsibility for feature prioritisation and approval in collaboration with the Product Owner.
- Demonstrated success in iterative release of software systems, utilising principles from both Scrum and Kanban for continuous delivery.
- Experience managing larger project budgets
- In-depth understanding of empirical data needed for stakeholder reporting and team measurement, including metrics relevant to both Scrum (e.g., velocity) and Kanban (e.g., lead time, cycle time, throughput).
- Proven ability to manage budget, forecast, margin, and utilisation of the project team in a Fixed Fee setting.
- Solid experience with project management software such as Jira or similar, including setting up and utilising Kanban boards and Scrum boards.
- Fluent English at a highly professional level, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an international team across time zones (with overlapping working hours between 8 AM - 12 PM EST).
Nice to have qualifications
- Knowledge of traditional SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
- Proven ability to bring transparency to the business team about development; building trust while demonstrating your commitment to deliverables to the business team.
- Experience with identifying delivery issues and risks, and a sense of urgency for removing bottlenecks, optimising flow, and driving continuous improvement.
- PMP & CSM, CSPO, PSM, KMP or other relevant Agile certifications.
If you do not meet all the listed qualifications or have gaps in your experience, we still encourage you to apply. At Valtech, we recognize that talent comes in many forms, and we value diverse perspectives and a willingness to learn.
