Director of Business Development - Foundations
The Opportunity
As Director of Business Development - Foundations, you’ll drive Validation Cloud’s growth strategy by building and strengthening strategic relationships with blockchain foundations. You’ll play a central role in securing key partnerships with emerging blockchain networks, working closely with our executive and GTM teams to shape and execute foundational agreements. Your expertise in blockchain ecosystems and strong network within Layer 1 protocols will be essential to advancing our impact and positioning Validation Cloud as a go-to partner in the blockchain space.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and cultivate relationships with blockchain foundations and key ecosystem stakeholders, including founding teams, governance bodies, and venture firms.
- Leverage your deep understanding of blockchain foundations to position our offerings and secure token delegations, validator opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead negotiations to secure token allocations, strategic funding, and other partnership agreements that align with our growth objectives.
- Work with technical and cross-functional teams to qualify deals and ensure seamless execution of agreements, aligned with network-specific needs.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of early-stage blockchain networks launching on mainnet to inform pipeline management and opportunity prioritization.
- Drive value for existing blockchain foundation partners, staying updated on network governance changes, upgrades, and events.
- Represent Validation Cloud at key industry events, establishing and enhancing our reputation in the blockchain community.
- Develop and share materials that promote our infrastructure-as-a-service platform, enhancing brand visibility and appeal to blockchain foundations.
About You
Attributes:
- Extensive connections within blockchain foundations, L1s, and protocols.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with the agility to navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly.
- In-depth knowledge of tokenomics, early-stage blockchain networks, and network dynamics (e.g., governance and testnets).
- Persuasive in both verbal and written formats, with a proven ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in business development or venture capital, ideally within the blockchain sector, focusing on early-stage networks and foundations.
- Demonstrated track record in sourcing, negotiating, and closing high-impact deals with blockchain foundations.
- Proven success with blockchain network operations, with prior experience at an L1, L2, protocol investment firm, or equivalent.
- Strong research and problem-solving skills to assess network readiness and alignment with our objectives.
- Able to work independently and integrate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- A collaborative spirit that prioritizes team wins over individual accolades.
