Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and numerate individual to join our Lending Finance team as a Lending Revenue Finance Assistant, supporting the accounting and reporting of income generated across our lending and leasing portfolios. This role is ideal for someone in the early stages of their accountancy qualification (AAT Level 3/4 or ACCA/CIMA) who is looking to build technical and commercial understanding in a highly active asset finance environment.

You will work closely with Finance colleagues and the Operational teams responsible for origination, servicing and portfolio management, ensuring that revenue is accurately recognised in line with contract terms and accounting policies.

This is a hands-on role offering early responsibility, strong learning potential and exposure to a variety of structured and secured lending products, including equipment leases, term loans, and hire purchase arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with calculating, posting and reconciling revenue in relation to loan and lease agreements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely revenue recognition schedules in line with internal policies and relevant accounting standards.
  • Monitor and reconcile accrued interest, unearned income, fees and other income items, to ensure balance sheet position is accurately reported.
  • Support the month-end close process, including preparation of revenue journals and associated balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • Work with the lending operations team to understand cash flows, drawdowns, repayments, early settlements and restructures, to ensure accounting is correctly reflected.
  • Investigate variances between expected and actual income, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Prepare supporting analysis and working papers for management and audit purposes.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of internal controls, documentation and reporting processes.
  • Ensure the correct application of accounting standards, including the assessment and implementation of new accounting rules, and take responsibility for accurate recognition and treatment of transactions in line with relevant reporting requirements.
  • Provide support on ad hoc analysis or projects within the revenue and wider finance function.

Knowledge & Experience Required

  • Previous knowledge of accounting for a loan or lease portfolio.
  • Currently studying towards an accountancy qualification (AAT, or early-stage ACCA/CIMA).
  • Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with complex data.
  • Prior exposure to a finance role in a lending, leasing, banking or financial services environment.
  • Understanding of key revenue components in loan or lease products (e.g. interest income, fee income, effective interest rate method).

Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail, with a structured and methodical approach to tasks.
  • Clear communicator who is comfortable working with both financial and non-financial colleagues.
  • Willingness to learn, take ownership and develop within a fast-paced environment.

Why Join Us
