Junior Colour Technologist
THE ROLE.
We’re looking for a Junior Colour Technologist to join our team and play a key role in ensuring colour is delivered accurately and consistently across all products. You’ll work from creative concept through to production, following the brand’s critical path and collaborating closely with internal teams and suppliers to meet colour standards, quality expectations, and timelines.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career who has a strong eye for colour, enjoys working cross‑functionally, and wants to build deep technical expertise in a fast‑moving apparel environment.
- Review, validate, and approve daily lab‑dip and bulk colour submissions against agreed colour standards
- Partner closely with Product Development, Design, and Production teams to ensure colour accuracy and consistency
- Coordinate with vendors and mills to manage colour submissions and approvals within critical timelines
- Track, chase, and manage on‑time approvals for lab dips and bulk production
- Maintain professional supplier relationships and support continuous improvement, including performance evaluation (physical and digital)
- Attend and contribute to colour development meetings, providing status updates and highlighting risks
- Communicate challenges, delays, or discrepancies clearly to key stakeholders
- Maintain and update tracking systems for colour submission timelines, approvals, and supplier performance
- Keep accurate records of lab‑dip and bulk submissions, feedback, and approvals
- Manage PLM updates for colour communication
- Own the colour lab‑dip library, including housekeeping and maintenance
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot colour discrepancies during development
- Support and help implement the digital colour platform in partnership with the Colour Manager
Accountabilities
- Accuracy of lab‑dip and bulk colour validation and colour consistency across products
- Supporting the Colour Manager with digital colour implementation and execution
- Working with Supply Chain (under Colour Manager guidance) to maximise efficiency and ensure “right first time” delivery.
Mandatory Requirement
- Exceptional colour perception – Munsell 100: Superior colour vision
Essential Skills & Experience
- 1–2 years’ experience in the textile industry (or graduates with a degree in Textile Technology or related discipline are welcome)
- Strong understanding of the apparel design and development lifecycle
- Good knowledge of colour application to meet aesthetic, functional, technical, and commercial needs
- Detail‑driven with excellent organisation skills
- Analytical and critical thinker with a proactive mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
- Collaborative and team‑oriented with strong communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office
Preferred (but not essential)
- Knowledge of textile manufacturing processes and dyestuffs
- Understanding of colour science
- Experience using a spectrophotometer and a genuine interest in digital colour management
- Ability to anticipate issues and propose solutions related to colour execution
- Experience working with PLM systems or data management tools
Onsite Collaboration: Due to the hands-on and highly collaborative nature of the work within our Product & Supply Chain team, we have a minimum expectation of four days per week onsite at our Gymshark HQ. This ensures we can work closely together to innovate, problem-solve, and deliver world-class products for our community.
