Copywriting Lead
OVERVIEW:
Gymshark’s tone of voice is one of the cornerstones of our brand. The way to talk to our community, the way we talk about our product and the way we articulate ourself is integral to who we are.
As a Copywriting Lead you’d be tasked with owning and evolving the Gymshark Voice. Working across our biggest brand moments, like new product drops, brand awareness moments and events. You’ll be hands-on, writing high-performing, high-impact copy. As well as working with the internal team, external partners and automation platforms to ensure we consistently meet the high standards we expect.
As a Lead, you will also work with other Copywriters to ensure consistency and creative development across the team. You will be a thought leader, mentor and coach for the team and represent them in key meetings and collaboration points with other departments and external partners.
Working with the other Leads in the Creative Studio, Head of Creative and Design, you will also working on planning Seasonal and Annual developments of the Creative Brand, focusing specifically on tone.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Owning and Evolving TOV
- Lead copywriting direction across all brand activity – Including product launches and other high-energy brand moments like Store openings & Lift Events. As well as overseeing product descriptions, and full-suite marketing copy.
- Develop strong, community-led Seasonal narratives that feel exciting, culturally relevant and unmistakably Gymshark. Show our community we know the gym better than anyone else, and therefore make the best gym product.
- Work with other Copywriters – English and Foreign Language - scale partners and automation platforms to translate the broader brand storytelling framework into sharp, high-impact high impact copy.
Write the best copy ITW
- Help concept and articulate creative ideas and messaging platforms designed to drive action. Ensuring our brand comms are consistently excellent.
- Ensure all campaigns are built with channel-first execution in mind, particularly social.
- Work closely with key collaborators across Brand and Marketing to ensure our messaging is relevant, optimised and impactful.
- Work closely with Brand, Product, Marketing, Social and Production teams to deliver brand and product campaigns on time and at the highest standard.
Creative Leadership & Momentum
- Lead Copywriting teams, setting high standards for taste, craft and execution under fast timelines.
- Mentor Junior to Senior Copywriters to strengthen their writing, storytelling and leadership skills.
- Represent the Copywriting team across key touchpoints and collaboration milestones.
- Act as a key creative partner to the Head of Creative & Creative Leads, owning delivery of Gymshark’s most visible moments.
- Confidently present and sell ideas to senior stakeholders, building belief and excitement.
- Develop Seasonal Creative Direction, owning the development of the Gymshark Voice and roll this out with the Copywriting team.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Essential Criteria:
- Extensive experience leading campaign-led product and brand moments.
- A portfolio demonstrating big-idea thinking, high-impact launches and channel-first execution.
- Exceptional copywriting skills and a high level of creative taste.
- Deep understanding of social platforms and fast-moving cultural moments.
- Obsessive understanding and appreciation of the gym.
- Experience leading and developing senior talent.
- Ability to thrive in high-pace environments while maintaining creative excellence.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and presentation skills.
