Retail People Advisor - 12m FTC
OVERVIEW:
The Retail People Advisor (12m FTC) provides strategic HR support to retail managers, leads on employee relations, and helps implement key people initiatives. This role drives performance, ensures HR best practices, and enhances employee experience across Gymshark’s retail operations. Working closely with the People Partner Cohort, the advisor aligns Retail People Plans with business strategy while preserving Gymshark’s unique culture.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Align retail people plans with business strategy and priorities.
- Act as a culture ambassador, promoting Gymshark values and performance culture.
- Build strong relationships with managers and team members across the UK retail estate (London, Bicester, Manchester) with flexibility to travel.
- Provide HR support including:
- Employee relations advice (disciplinary, grievance, sickness, absence).
- Performance improvement plan administration.
- Monitoring absence triggers, probation, and annual leave compliance.
- Managing occupational health reviews and maternity/paternity reboarding.
- Support learning and development initiatives, including mandatory training delivery and tracking.
- Conduct exit interviews, report insights, and contribute to people analytics.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date people policies and job descriptions.
- Update trackers for People Ops (reporting line changes, grade changes).
- Administer wellbeing check-ins and support functional change or restructure processes.
- Assist with workforce planning, organization design, and pay review processes.
- Provide ad-hoc support for people change initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- HR advisory experience in a fast-paced, multi-site retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR practices.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end employee relations casework.
- Skilled at influencing and partnering with leaders.
- Flexible and adaptable to change; willing to travel regularly across UK stores.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Commercially aware with strong problem-solving and lateral thinking abilities.
- Able to work autonomously in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
- High integrity, professional ethics, and sound judgment.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- CIPD qualified (or equivalent).
This role would require the successful candidate to attend at our London, Soho office with travel to stores, London, Manchester and Bicester.
