Sourcing Executive (Materials) 12m FTC

As a Material Sourcing Executive at Gymshark you’ll source the Raw Materials and ensure that all raw materials needed for production are procured efficiently, cost effectively and sustainably, in alignment with the Product and Sourcing strategy whilst ensuring the aesthetic, functional and commercial needs of materials are met in order to deliver world class products to the Lifting Community. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for: 

• Executing the material sourcing timelines within the 9 months critical path including key milestones to drive newness. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional business partners in Design, Sourcing and Product Management to deliver a range and product structure incorporating Core, Seasonal and Newness material portfolio.  

• Collaborate with the materials sourcing manager to manage an efficient end to end sourcing process across Garment and materials. 

• Ensuring Material toolbox is set up to succeed to enable accurate planning and negotiations.  

• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure consistent delivery and quality standards, whilst adhering to the Gymshark policies and sustainability commitments  

• Support drive costing excellence across raw materials to achieve financial targets  

• Execute risk management within the supply chain by mitigating risks associated with the sourcing process, such as supply chain disruptions, geopolitical factors, or changes in material costs. 

• Execute rationalisation and consolidation from Fibre – fabric to optimise our supply base and drive consistency globally and increase material efficiency across Core, seasonal and newness categories  

• Execute the material procurement for all raw materials to ensure development and production timelines are met and manage raw material greige pots.  

• Support the regionalisation material sourcing strategy using data to make informed decisions surrounding vendor strategy and sourcing locations. 

• Use data in various settings including quality and performance measurement, presentations, commercial based decisions and KPI measuring.  

• Keep abreast with the fluctuations in the market regarding market material costs, inflations, energy costs and exchange rates that feeds into the overall seasonal strategies  

 

Accountable for: 

• Ensure all materials are sourced that all raw materials needed for production are procured efficiently, cost effectively and sustainably, in alignment with the Product and Sourcing strategy.  

 

KEY SKILL REQUIRED AND ESSENTIAL IN THIS ROLE IS: Partners with Design and development to source a cohesive material range across core, seasonal, and newness categories considering the 9-month timelines.

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential Skills: 

• Material sourcing experience.  

• Understanding of the apparel design, development and production timelines 

• Understanding of global sourcing, as materials may be sourced from various countries with different cultural and business practices. 

• Knowledge of garment construction  

• Knowledge of fabric physical properties and performance testing. 

• Understanding of technical materials knowledge, including fibres, yarns, knit and woven fabrications, printing application, dyeing and finishing. 

• Ability to anticipate problems, offer solutions, and address issues with materials. 

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. 

• Strong analytical skills to assess material costs, trends, and supply chain performance. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to deliver presentations to various business levels. 

• Collaborative and team orientated. 

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and data management systems such as PLM.  

• Ability to build and maintain relationships and communicate effectively to get the most out of stakeholders. 

• Ability to cope with change in a fast-moving energetic environment. 

• Previous experience working at a global brand is highly desired. 

Preferred Skills: 

• Negotiation skills 

• Previous experience working at a global trim /material supplier or brand
